Investment research firm, Morningstar, recently announced the launch of an updated app for the Apple Watch on Friday. The Chicago-based investment service provider was one of the first companies to provide a market tracking application for Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone, and looks to launch the Apple Watch iteration of the app promptly, creating a natural bridge between the two devices. The Morningstar app will keep investors up to date in market activity, enabling you to observe stock market trends directly from your smartwatch.
The research and media company aims to provide faster interactions than its iPhone application, allowing you to quickly check market conditions on the go. Individual investors and financial advisors can save time with the new functionality provided on the iPhone synced product, filtering through the exponential global market data that the company features.
The mobile solutions head at Morningstar, Mike Barad, said: “Our latest mobile launch builds on our commitment to meeting investors where they are in new and innovative ways…Wearable technology is becoming mainstream, and the Morningstar Apple Watch app offers a simple, at-a-glance way for investors to keep tabs on market activity, featuring global market data and market-moving news headlines curated by our editors. The app also showcases our proprietary U.S. Market Barometer, an instant, visual depiction of market activity and trends.”
The independent research firm is currently running operations across 27 countries and is ranked as the second-largest digital firm. Boasting approximately 1,500 employees, the firm manages investments worth more than $179 billion in assets as of March 31 this year. It also offers an index of 500,000 investment offers along with live data on over 10 million options, equities, futures, and commodities including the foreign exchange markets.
Another Chicago company, GrubHub, also recently launched an app iteration of the Apple Watch, covering orders for on-demand food. Hearing aid manufacturer, Beltone, also unveiled a Watch app whereas United Airlines is in the process of developing a travel app for the wearable device. The tech giant has already certified the creation of over 4,000 applications and will roll out a plethora of Watch apps in the future.
Further information about Morningstar’s new app for the Apple Watch is available on the Apple store. Morningstar already offers solutions for iPhone, iPad, and the iPod Touch, as part of a suite of eight smartphone and tablet applications.
