Vocera Chief Medical Officer Named “Health IT Change Agent”; Company Honored with eHealthcare Leadership Award for Best Overall Internet Site
Vocera Communications, Inc. (NYSE: VCRA), the leading provider of communication solutions for mission-critical mobile environments, today announced that it has been honored with two prestigious health IT industry awards. The company’s chief medical officer, M. Bridget Duffy, MD, has been named an inaugural Health IT Change Agent by Health IT Outcomes and will be prominently featured in the publication’s November issue.
In addition, Vocera has received a 2014 eHealthcare Leadership Award in the “Best Overall Internet Site” category. The company will be recognized during a special awards presentation at the Eighteenth Annual Healthcare Internet Conference, November 3-5, 2014 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Health IT Outcomes Change Agents are key personalities and providers that are leading the charge for positive change when it comes to leveraging health IT. The publication introduced the concept this year as a way to honor highly influential individuals who are pushing conventional health IT boundaries and challenging the status quo. Dr. Duffy was recognized for her tireless work assisting hospitals and health systems with deploying innovative health IT solutions that restore the human connection to healthcare.
As the leader of the patient experience movement, Dr. Duffy has spent more than 20 years defining the components of an optimal healing environment. In addition to her role as chief medical officer at Vocera, she is the co-founder of the company’s thought leadership and research collaborative, the Experience Innovation Network, which is focused on designing the next standards in care delivery, accelerating healthcare transformation and putting science behind the human experience of care.
The eHealthcare Leadership awards program recognizes the best websites and digital communications of healthcare organizations, online health companies, pharmaceutical/medical equipment firms, suppliers and business improvement initiatives. Vocera was selected in the “Best Overall Internet Site” category for its delivery of strong online health content, interactivity, medical care support and integration with the organization’s operations, Web design and ease of navigation.
“We are honored to receive top industry recognition as we continue to grow and support healthcare organizations to positively impact patient care and experiences through improved communication,” said Brent Lang, president and CEO of Vocera. “Dr. Duffy’s recognition as a Health IT Change Agent is a testament to her outstanding work using innovative technology to improve the human experience of care. Furthermore, the company’s receipt of the eHealthcare Leadership Award demonstrates the value of clearly communicating key health information to our customers.”
