ARA was chartered in 1982 and began operation with it’s Traveling Teacher Program funded by the New York State Division for Youth and the Allegany County CETA office. This program ran through mid-1983. Other programs included Continuing Day Treatment in Northern Cattaraugus County (1986-1990), Individual Support Services, funded by OMRDD and multiple instances of time-limited training and prevention services.

We have established and continue to operate the following services: New Horizons Continuing Day Treatment Program, Stepping Stones Continuing Day Treatment Program, Wyoming County Chemical Abuse Treatment Program, Wyoming County Mental Health Clinic and The Counseling Center.

Emotional health problems affect one in five Americans in any one year – as many as all other diseases combined.  While these issues do not discriminate based on race, culture, religion, or gender, they aren’t a hopeless cause.
