OpenText Announces RightFax Healthcare Direct

Dear Future Health Information Management Professionals

OpenText RightFax Healthcare Direct, an add-on module to RightFax to connect caregiver communities for the efficient exchange of secure messages based on the specifications defined by the Direct Project, part of the Nationwide Health Information Network. RightFax Healthcare Direct accelerates interoperability and improves patient care in the healthcare industry by allowing healthcare providers to easily and securely send Direct messages, a way to exchange encrypted health information directly to authenticated recipients over the Internet, by using their existing RightFax and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integrations.

Ensuring the right medical information is available at the right time and to the right physician is of paramount importance in the healthcare industry. Healthcare organizations are reliant on accessing this information from other providers, some of whom have already adopted the Direct protocol. However, not all hospitals and providers have adopted Direct, leading to a technology gap in communications and putting record exchange at risk. Enabling the healthcare industry with the ability to exchange Direct messages on patient records is a key factor in patient care and safety. RightFax Healthcare Direct helps organizations expand beyond fax to Direct messaging to easily and securely share and communicate patient information across an entire network of caregivers.

In addition, RightFax Healthcare Direct addresses many of the compliance requirements being placed on today’s healthcare system. Meaningful Use Stage 2 (MU2) and Meaningful Use Stage 3 (MU3) are criteria that eligible professionals and hospitals must meet in order to participate in Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs. With the requirements putting significant and growing pressure on healthcare organizations to change how they transmit protected health information, healthcare organizations will now have the means to attain MU2 and prepare for MU3.
“Because RightFax is already integrated into leading EMR systems, OpenText can affect change by driving interoperability in healthcare and in provider communities,” said Adam Howatson, chief marketing officer for OpenText. “In a time sensitive environment, RightFax Healthcare Direct provides healthcare organizations with the ability to quickly exchange patient records to improve their ability to provide the proper care. As technology in healthcare is evolving, OpenText is leading the industry to the digital world by offering the tools needed to accelerate interoperability and advance connectivity for providers to maintain the highest level of patient safety and comply with healthcare standards.”

RightFax Healthcare Direct leverages the integration between RightFax and EMR systems to easily send and receive Direct messages without changing user workflows or messaging infrastructure. The module includes new technologies to simplify information exchange, accelerate interoperability in healthcare and transform the delivery of patient information. By allowing healthcare providers to easily and securely send Direct messages, RightFax Healthcare utilizes cloud technologies to bring to market the most innovative advances in faxing technology today. RightFax Healthcare Direct is an add-on to RightFax, an on-premises or hybrid enterprise fax solution that integrates with desktop and business applications to maximize productivity, reduce risk and decrease costs. RightFax automates time-intensive manual paper-driven processes by integrating them into your business applications and systems.

RightFax is part of the OpenText Enterprise Information Management (EIM) strategy, enabling organizations to discover and manage information to spur growth and innovation and decrease time to competitive advantage. The platform consists of comprehensive and integrated product suites including Content Suite, Process Suite, Experience Suite, Discovery Suite, Information Exchange, and Analytics.
