Why You Should Buy a Tablet Instead of a Computer

A tablet is the ideal combination of a smartphone and a computer. It offers many of the functions of a laptop yet is much easier to carry with you.

Before you go spending big bucks on a new computer, consider purchasing a tablet instead. Here are some reasons tablets are better than computers are.

Industrial Use

Laptops are hard to bring to factory floors or restaurants. For those who work in these and other industrial locations, a rugged tablet is more practical. It is relatively small and easy to maneuver. It can also serve as a cell phone in case you need to contact co-workers at another location.

Portability

Tablets are much lighter than laptops are. That is because tablets do not have a heavy trackpad and keyboard. Due to their power, laptops also require additional cooling components that add extra weight.

In fact, tablets are so small and light that they can probably fit in your purse or a large pocket. Some tablets actually weigh less than one pound.

Because they are so light, tablets are ideal for salespeople and others who travel frequently for business. They are easy to operate during meets and product demonstrations, as well.

Battery Life

Have you ever needed internet access during a long trip, only to discover that the battery on your computer has died? If you forgot to bring your charging cable, you might have been in big trouble.

With a tablet, this is less of a concern. Since tablets have less hardware and smaller screens compared to computers, tablets have longer battery lives. While a laptop may only survive eight hours without a charge, a tablet’s battery can last up to 10 hours.

Wireless Connection

Both laptops and tablets offer similar Wi-Fi capabilities and speeds. However, tablets may also come with cellular data, which lets you use the internet even when no Wi-Fi connection is available.

Camera

Laptop cameras are really only meant to be used for Zoom or Skype calls. For high-quality photos, tablets are a better option. They are handheld and produce high-resolution images, making them great for scenic vacations.

Quick Start

Laptops and desktop computers often take a few minutes to power on or to wake up from sleep mode. If you need to access a file right away, these minutes can be agonizing. Tablets, however, are ready to use almost as soon as you press the power button.

High-Pixel Display

Tablets are known for their touchscreens with high-pixel density displays. The screens are both convenient and easy to use.

Multimedia

Thanks to tablets, you no longer have to squint and watch your favorite shows on a tiny cell phone screen. The large touch screen lets you consume series, books and movies during your travels without having to lug around your big laptop. Tablets are particularly great for keeping little kids occupied on long car rides.

Data Security

Some tablets operate on closed systems, which reduce the chances of malware or a virus infecting the devices. Tablets thus may keep your personal information or important business data away from nefarious individuals.

A tablet comes with all of these benefits while still providing some of the main features of top laptops. The same software you use on your computer should be available on a tablet. Tablets and computers also have similar storage capacities and operating systems. Installing or uninstalling the software on a tablet is quick and easy, as well.

Do not let a bulky laptop slow you down when you are on the go. A tablet provides most of the same features in a more portable form. A tablet also has a long battery life, a quality camera and high-pixel displays. Your data may be safer on a tablet than it would be on a laptop, as well. Whether you want a basic tablet for multimedia purposes or a rugged tablet to help you complete field work, there are plenty of great options available.
