Today, Central Texas Medical Center is a 170-bed hospital providing a wide range of complex healthcare services in San Marcos, Texas and neighboring communities. The CTMC staff of over 700 employees works with more than 220 active and consulting physicians.
Emergency/Trauma Services
For emergencies big and small, our 24/7 Level IV Emergency and Trauma Center is equipped with 20 beds, 5 trauma rooms, 5 minor care beds, 8 treatment rooms and a family-friendly waiting area. The board-certified physicians have 24/7 access to lab and radiology services. CTMC is a Certified Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center.
Women’s Center
Our state-of-the-art facility includes all private rooms, a laboring tub and a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). It also includes an on-site, high-risk delivery suite and a customized cesarean section suite. Our Childbirth Center was designed to provide each family with a personal, family-centered birthing experience in a serene setting. In partnership with the Mother’s Milk Bank at Austin, CTMC is the only Certified Milk Depot in Hays County and has donated tens of thousands of ounces of breast milk to the cause since 2011. In 2012, CTMC received a Mother-Friendly Worksite designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services after purchasing 2 state-of-the art breast pumps and implementing mother-friendly policies for hospital employees. The hospital was also designated by the state as a Texas Ten Step Program facility for its breastfeeding initiatives. The CTMC Women’s Center also operates the Honeysuckle Mommy Baby Boutique, which was partially funded by the 2012 CTMC Women’s Council impact grants, located inside the CTMC Women’s Center and features lactation supplies and consultation, as well as a variety of custom, hand-made gifts and merchandise.
Surgical Services
Our Surgery Department provides the technology and support your surgeon requires and the calm, attentive staff you need to assist you during your surgery. In 2012, CTMC made a $2 million investment in a da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery suite, making the hospital the only location on the IH-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio to offer the cutting-edge technology. We are also able to treat chronic allergies with a balloon sinuplasty procedure that can typically be done right inside the doctor’s office. Medical Imaging/Radiology
A key element in your diagnosis and recovery is fast and accurate diagnostic testing. Our Medical Imaging Department uses a 1.5 Tesla MRI system; multi-slice CT scanner; dual head nuclear medicine system; DEXA bone densitometer; 3 ultrasound systems and 2 mammography systems. PET (positron emission tomography) services are also offered. Board-certified radiologists interpret all images and provide fast turnaround time.
Lab Services
Our full-service, clinical laboratory is staffed with certified medical technologists, phlebotomists and technicians who perform tests to aid your physician with a diagnosis.
Rehabilitation Institute
Our goal is to return our physical therapy patients to their normal function as quickly and safely as possible through the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. At the Rehabilitation Institute, we also offer a unique, comprehensive set of specialty therapies such as lymphedema management, pediatric occupational/speech therapy, pelvic floor rehabilitation and more.
Cardiac Services
For the accurate diagnosis of conditions affecting the heart and lungs, our team provides electroencephalograms, cardiac stress tests, pulmonary function testing, echocardiograms, nuclear cardiology studies, EKGs and diagnostic cardiac catheterization. CTMC is a Certified Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center, which puts in place specialized services and protocols for all patients arriving in the ER suffering from heart attack or stroke symptoms.
Institute for Advanced Wound Care Healing
For wounds that require management or wounds that have stopped healing, unique care is often required. The Institute’s wound physicians specialize in advanced therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen treatments. They will implement a wound healing regimen for each patient in partnership with the referring physician.
Hospice Care
CTMC Hospice is here to help terminally ill patients and their families face the final stage of life with dignity and compassion. Our medical team provides care for the final months of life in the comfort of your home or nursing home. Bereavement counseling is also available for the family through the Family Grief Center, which is completely funded by CTMC’s Have A Heart Thrift Store. Children who have faced a loss find comfort and healing at Camp HeartSong, a bereavement program held in the summer.
Sleep Improvement Center
The Center diagnoses sleep related problems with equipment monitored by the area’s leading sleep specialists. The lab provides a home-like setting for ultimate comfort while patients resolve the sleep issues that can often cause serious health risks and disrupt personal lives.
