C3HIE Launches TEFCA Connectivity via eHealth Exchange QHIN Network

TEFCA connectivity enhances secure nationwide health information exchange across Texas and beyond.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, UNITED STATES, May 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — C3HIE, a leading health information exchange (HIE) organization serving Texas, today announced its official go-live with the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement™ (TEFCA™) through connectivity with the eHealth Exchange Qualified Health Information Network® (QHIN™). This milestone strengthens secure nationwide interoperability and expands health data exchange capabilities for healthcare providers and organizations across Texas and beyond.

This achievement represents years of dedicated effort to improve the way health information is exchanged across the healthcare ecosystem.

Through QHIN connectivity, C3HIE participants now gain access to expanded nationwide interoperability capabilities that support better care coordination, smoother transitions of care, stronger clinical decision-making, and improved patient outcomes at lower costs.

“Connecting to TEFCA through the eHealth Exchange QHIN marks a significant milestone for C3HIE and the communities we serve throughout Texas,” said Jim Hoag. “Healthcare providers continue to face growing demands for timely, comprehensive patient information while managing increasing operational challenges. This connectivity helps address those needs by enabling secure access to critical health data whenever and wherever it is needed most.”

“C3HIE reaching this TEFCA connectivity milestone represents another meaningful advancement for nationwide interoperability,” said Jay Nakashima. “By expanding secure, standards-based health information exchange, C3HIE is helping healthcare providers gain access to more complete patient data, enabling better coordinated care across Texas and beyond.”

With this new connectivity, C3HIE participants can exchange health information more efficiently with organizations nationwide, giving clinicians broader access to comprehensive patient records and improving continuity of care across healthcare environments.

The connection further advances C3HIE’s broader interoperability strategy, which includes:

• Connectivity through the eHealth Exchange national network
• Participation in Carequality interoperability exchange frameworks
• Participation in the Civitas Networks for Health Patient Centered Data Home Program
• Statewide data-sharing collaboration with the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA)

Collectively, these initiatives expand secure, real-time access to clinical information across organizational and geographic boundaries, supporting more connected, informed, and coordinated patient care throughout Texas and beyond.
