The company was founded in 2002 by urgent care physicians David Stern, MD, CPC; John Koehler, MD, FACEP; and Terry Buzzard, MD, FACEP, looking to improve their own urgent care center operations. After extensive research revealed a lack of electronic medical record and practice management software designed for urgent care, the three physicians collaborated with a team of programmers to design and launch their first service, a modified EMR template, PiVoTs.
