Traditional Psychotherapy: client centered, insight oriented, cognitive behavioral.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR): is a process by which one becomes more aware of themselves cognitively, affectively, and behaviorally. Using the practice of meditation, individuals learn how to “mindfully” gain better control of the body’s response rather than “mindlessly” reacting to it. This has been shown to be effective with panic and anxiety disorders, addictions, and chronic pain.
Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): is a time efficient methodology using bilateral stimulation integrated with psychotherapy to clear emotional, cognitive, and behavioral blockages that underlie many pathologies such as those found in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): is based on the idea that thoughts influence feelings and behaviors. Step one is to identify faulty or negative thought patterns. Step two is to work on changing the patterns to begin the healing process.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy(PE): is a type of therapy that helps you decrease distress about trauma. It works by helping you approach trauma-related thoughts, feelings, and situations that you have been avoiding due to the distress they cause.
Schema Therapy: is a systemic approach to therapy expanding on the principles of CBT. Schema Therapy focuses on the childhood and adolescent origins of psychological problems, emotive techniques, therapist-client relationships and maladaptive coping styles.
