Nearly 18% of ENT practices remain challenged to select and implement a first EHR system and 19% of early EHR adopters seek to exchange out original EHR choices according to Black Book survey participants. Users identified the ENT-centric applications that are delivering on implementation success, productivity, otorhinolaryngology workflows, outcomes, meaningful use achievement, connectivity and crucial stimulus fund requirements.

“Product and vendor loyalty among several niche EHR specialists is on the upward trajectory,” said Doug Brown, Black Book’s managing partner. “The vendor’s abilities to meet the evolving demands of interoperability, networking, mobile devices, accountable care, patient accessibility, customization for specialty workflow, and reimbursement are the main factors that the replacement mentality and late adoption are turning course in specialties such as ENT.”

Through Q4 2015 to Q2 2015, otolaryngology/ENT including private, independent and large group practices has been one of the fastest growing market segments of new EHR implementations, according to Black Book polling with 79% of all ENT practices either executed, under implementation or are in the process of selecting a system.

Based on the aggregate client experience and customer satisfaction scores on eighteen key performance indicators, the top-ranked otolaryngology electronic health records systems for 2015 inclusive of all practice sizes and delivery sites is Boca Raton, Florida-based, Modernizing Medicine, Inc.

Modernizing Medicine Modernizing Medicine’s EMA ENT also ranked #1 in dermatology and orthopedic surgery specialties in the 2015 surveys.

Other otolaryngology EHR vendors with scores exceeding client expectations are: Medical Mastermind, Cerner, Allmeds, Meditab, athenahealth, Chartware, Greenway, and Allscripts.

“High performing vendors have emerged from the pack as practice implementations succeed and fail, meaningful use attestations are reviewed, and users assess their vendor’s capabilities to meet their individual practice needs,” said Brown.
