3 Potential Cannabis Health Benefits

3 Potential Cannabis Health Benefits

Cannabis sativa is the scientific name of marijuana. The cannabis plant contains a group of chemical substances known as cannabinoids, including THC and CBD.

THC is marijuana’s primary active ingredient. The leaves and flowering portions of the marijuana plant contain this component. The tops of female marijuana plants are harvested to make hashish which contains the most THC. THC has painkilling qualities, while CBD influences the brain and improves its function without making it feel high.

Research conducted over the years has produced findings that point to the possibility that cannabis may help treat certain ailments or alleviate symptoms of some health conditions. For example, some people use it to relax and relieve stress. Some prefer more natural remedies, like having a turmeric latte mix containing ingredients that may help ease some symptoms of their health issues. Cannabis is a natural substance that comes from a plant and may offer potential health benefits, some of which are listed below.

  1. May help in the management of chronic pain

In the United States, chronic pain affects more than 25 million adults and is the primary cause of disability. According to some studies, treating chronic pain with cannabis, products that contain cannabinoids, or other substances that work on the same brain receptors as cannabis, is beneficial. Cannabinoids has the potential to alleviate pain by changing the brain’s neural pathways that deal with it. Some conditions that lead to chronic pain include arthritis, migraine, fibromyalgia, and endometriosis. Additionally, some claim, anecdotally, that it could lessen the negative side effects of cancer treatment, like appetite loss. In some cases, medical marijuana has been used as a substitute for NSAIDs like ibuprofen.

  1. May help with sleeping problems

Both recreational and medical users of cannabis frequently utilize it as a sleep aid. About 70% of young adults who use cannabis say that it has the potential to aid with sleep and keep them from being constantly roused in the middle of the night. About half of long-term cannabis users claim to take cannabis to enhance their sleep. Up to 85% of people who use cannabis for medical purposes, such as pain management, claim it helps them sleep better. The calming properties of cannabis may aid in treating sleep issues like insomnia. And when it is used to reduce pain, it may also lead to better quality sleep.

  1. May help in the treatment of anxiety disorders

A preclinical study revealed that CBD might help treat various anxiety disorders. CBD products help lessen physical tension, shaking and twitching muscles, panic attacks, and rapid heartbeat, which are typical signs of anxiousness. CBD may reduce these symptoms, which in turn lessens general anxiety. Additionally, anxiety-related symptoms such as nausea, palpitations, and insomnia may potentially be reduced with cannabis.

Besides the potential health benefits listed above, cannabis may help with gastrointestinal issues, seizures, and lowering blood pressure. Nevertheless, it is still best to consult with a medical professional for health issues and seek advice to ensure that you get the appropriate treatment for your condition.
