3 Ways To Boost Your Energy

3 Ways To Boost Your Energy

It happens to everyone. You’re going about your day, checking off your tasks, when you feel your energy begin to drain away. Or maybe you wake up on the day of an important meeting, and you just can’t seem to wake up and get focused. Low energy can impact every area of your life, but how do you combat it? If you need more ways to get out of your slump, here are some tips you can try.

1. Nutrition

Nutrition plays a huge part in energy levels in multiple ways. Consuming lots of processed foods, sugar, and alcohol spell doom for your productivity. Simple sugars can bump up your energy in shorter bursts with a rough downhill tumble after, so putting yourself through that cycle multiple times a day is going to exhaust you. Alcohol can cause dehydration, which will lower your energy levels even more. Alcohol can also keep you from getting the sleep you need, impacting your energy levels for more than just the day after you indulge. Processed foods without complete nutrition can leave your body begging for the right vitamins and minerals. These nutrients play a part in hundreds of bodily processes, meaning low vitamin levels can greatly impact all aspects of your health.

For sustained energy levels, try adding more lean proteins and whole grains to your diet, and be smart about your snacks. You don’t want your blood sugar to drop, but you also don’t need help from snack cakes and soda between meals. Try getting a good combination of fats, proteins, and carbs even in your snacks for fast energy that lasts to your next meal. For an easy energy boost, check out the Thrive Experience and see how these products can fill your nutritional gaps.

2. Sleep

If you’re getting eight hours of sleep every night and you still wake up tired, there could be a variety of factors at play. It could be that your sleep quality is lacking due to noise, alcohol consumption, or a health issue like insomnia or sleep apnea. You could be repeatedly waking up at the wrong time during your sleep cycle, or your body may be better suited to seven or nine hours of sleep a night instead of eight. It’s never a bad idea to bring up suspected heath issues with your doctor, especially since the problem may be a quick fix. You can experiment with different amounts of sleep, or try apps that wake you up during the ideal part of your sleep cycle so you wake up more naturally. You could even try segmented sleeping. Many people report increased energy levels, and you can dedicate the waking hours between sleep segments to something you enjoy.

If you’ve been working continuously on various work tasks that are frying your brain, you may need a quick power nap to help you reset. Even a short nap can help you feel more refreshed and better able to process more information.

3. Exercise

Sometimes the only thing that’ll shake the brain fog is getting your blood pumping. Go for a quick walk or stretch. If all else fails, simply standing up can help release some of the tension you hold sitting at a desk for hours. It’s also a good time to take stock of how your body is feeling. Lingering pain from tight muscles or repetitive stress injuries can impact your productivity, so taking the time to customize your workspace will be worth it in the long run. Try a bike or treadmill desk, or even an elliptical that fits under the desk. This way you can boost your energy without even leaving your office.

Yoga would make a great addition to your daily routine for boosted energy as well as a variety of other reasons. Meditating and practicing mindfulness can help you manage stress, another cause of fatigue and lagging energy. Shockingly, it costs a lot of mental power to be anxious! Even if you do “nothing” all day, you can still feel mentally exhausted from internally battling yourself! If you’re trying these tips and not seeing results, it’s not a bad idea to check with your healthcare provider to see if there’s an underlying issue. In many cases, thyroid problems or anemia is the culprit.

Even if you’re passionate about your work and motivated to complete it, a lack of energy can ruin your plans. By utilizing these tips, you can craft your own personal toolbox for when you need a quick boost.
