5 Beneficial Things You Can Do For Your Eyes Right Now

Vision is so important, you want to protect your eyes whenever you can. Modern life is hard on eyes, but here are some things that can help.

1. Blue Glasses

The blue light that electronic devises emit is hard on eyes. Not only can it disrupt sleep and cause eye strain, constantly looking at phone, tablet and computer screens can let so much blue light through the retina, it can start the process of macular degeneration.

This is a very scary notion since we are all so dependent on our devices. One simple solution is to take a 15 minute break every hour to look up and outside.

To truly protect your vision, though, consider purchasing and using Blue Free Glasses. Blue light blocking glasses prevent the light from damaging your eyes by keeping it from reaching your retinas. Don’t worry, though, the glasses will not change the color of anything you are looking at.

2. Sunglasses

Sunglasses are not just for summer days at the beach. As with sunscreen, your eyes need protection from UV rays too, or your corneas will become damaged.

Although very dark glasses may sound ideal, it is actually better to use lighter sunglasses. Dark glasses cause your pupils to dilate and admit more UV rays.

For that reason, make sure whatever sunglasses you’re using, they are giving your eyes the proper UV protection.

3. Mood Glasses

A relatively new product is mood glasses. They work on the theory of color therapy. Since colors are vibrational wavelengths, each color vibrates at a different frequency. Our brains perceive these wavelengths and process them as emotions.

If you desire to change or keep a certain mood throughout the day, choose the right color and leave your glasses on.
When using color therapy glasses outside, however, be sure your glasses also offer UV protection. Also, they really should not be used while driving since the color of the glasses can change the colors of traffic lights and other signs, potentially causing a dangerous situation.

4. Vitamins and Nutrients

If you want to do the most to protect your eyes, be sure to have plenty of the proper nutrients in your diet as well as a supply of light-blocking glasses.

We all know from earliest childhood that carrots improve vision. They do this by supplying us with vitamin A. If you are not in the habit of eating carrots, vitamin A can still be obtained by taking supplements.

Two other important nutrients are less commonly known: lutein and zeaxanthin. These two compounds are believed to keep eyes healthy by acting like a natural sunscreen within your eyes. Some great sources are tomatoes, grapes, eggs (especially the yolks), spinach, pistachios and green peas. More likely than not, you enjoy at least one of these foods. Keep eating them to do the most for your eyes.

5. Weighted Sleep Mask

After a poor night’s sleep, your eyes really show it. They can be puffy or have dark circles. They will probably also be bloodshot and look irritated.

Using a weighted sleep mask at night provides benefits in several ways. First, a mask will totally block out ambient light from the street or other peoples’ devices. The dark will really promote both falling and staying asleep.
Weight also gives a sense of security, which can stop feelings of anxiety that may be keeping you awake.
Finally, the weight of the mask will discourage puffiness around the eyes that you will have to deal with in the morning.

Getting enough sleep will not only help your eyes, but your body and brain will also benefit.
Now that you know the things that will help protect your vision, you should make an effort to use all of them. Healthy eyes and good eyesight for the rest of your life are things that everyone should strive for, especially since they are all easily obtainable and easy to use.
