5 Marketing Tips for Your Small Business

Business owners everywhere know the importance of having all of the correct policies and procedures in place to run their day-to-day operations. They are experts at what they do. However, the stress levels of these business owners also soar sky-high for one main reason. They might not even know it yet, but it’s almost as if they hold three different jobs, which is enough to make anyone anxious. First, their job is to perfect their craft, which is their skill or passion that brought them into business in the first place. Second, they are business owners. There is a certain kind of set of skills that comes with running a business that is entirely separate from their craft. Last, they are marketers, tasked with getting the word about their business out to the public.

Marketing can be tough for any professional, but if it’s done right, business owners can see huge profits very quickly. Here are five tips for marketing your small business that can bring you profits more quickly.

1. Use Email Marketing to Nurture
Now, most small business owners don’t think about this, but email marketing is where it’s at for any size business. The possible reason that small businesses don’t utilize email that much is because they feel that it’s more for larger businesses. They might also feel that it is unnecessary because their customers might already know them. However, you should gather the information of all your existing customers so that you can send them offers you have going on. These sales will be the doorbusters to bring them in so that they can purchase something else at a regular price.

2. Use Social Media Marketing
Next, couple your email marketing with social media tactics. Every small business should be using paid social media advertising because it has special features that work very well for the business. For example, small businesses need to get the word out about what they’re doing to their local community. With social media, most platforms allow you to target a specific audience that lives within a certain radius from your place of business. All of your advertising budgets can be spent on reaching these people, meaning, you won’t ever misspend on marketing.

3. Practice Organic Reach
Remember to combine your paid efforts with organic reach, as well. Organic reach is when you use free platforms to offer content, tips and information from your business to the general public. This can be done on your social media pages, websites and other platforms you might be a part of. Any customer you reach and bring in to make a sale didn’t cost you a dime, making it very foolish not to be doing organic reach. Offer some valuable content to your followers until they are ready to convert into an actual, paying customer.

4. Use Offline Marketing
Offline marketing can also be called traditional, old-school marketing. Just think of flyers, mail, billboards or radio commercials. All of these kinds of marketing tactics will cost you money, but it is not done online. Offline marketing is still hot, which is why just about every business, even the big ones, are still advertising their companies this way. For a small business, your idea of offline marketing is probably more in the area of flyers and mail, which is definitely cheaper than a billboard. Pack a one-two punch with traditional and digital marketing.

5. Build a List
Last, remember to build a list all along the way of your marketing efforts. To be more technical, you have to build leads for your business. The names, numbers and email addresses should be collected from every lead and existing customer you have. When you build a list of leads who are interested in your company, it makes it easier to sell to them in the future whenever they’re ready.

Truly, if you practice these five marketing techniques for your small business, you will have everything you need to have a powerful approach to advertising your company.
