5 Ways To Make Your Home More Inviting for the Holidays

Are you ready to welcome a guest this holiday season? Are you willing to swap out your traditional decor for something that embraces warmth and cheer? If you want friends and family to walk in and feel overcome with ease and happiness, then it’s time to pull out the stops and transform your home into a pleasant, snug abode.
That change happens when you hone in on the things that people love about the seasons. The colors, lights and food remain vital to showing you adore this time of year, so consider adding those and a few other special touches to your interior.

1. Embrace Warm Scents

When the temperature drops and the leaves fall to the ground, people start to get excited about the thoughts of certain aromas. Pumpkin, cinnamon cypress, peppermint and gingerbread remain central to the winter and fall, greeting people with a joyful hello. Add some scented accents to the home, such as candles or aroma diffusers.
Before people arrive, bake a batch of cookies and allow the sugary smell to permeate through the air, or place a few drops of fragrant oil in your diffuser for a subtle scent that moves through the room.

2. Have a Special Snack or Spread

Do you plan to have a few friends over for a visit? When you arrange a gathering, bring homeliness to your place by having special holiday treats that people long for all year. You could set up a little buffet or keep it small and cute. If kids are coming, look for a special cookie delivery Salt Lake City to have some yumminess on the table. You could add in a hot chocolate bar, complete with candy canes for stirrers. Adults may look forward to a glass of eggnog, fresh gingerbread and hot appetizers.

Don’t be stiff. Allow things to remain fluid and be personal. This period is all about pleasure and satisfaction with others, so it’s okay to allow each guest to have a hand in how they prepare their drink or meal.

3. Set a Welcoming Table

Have a center table set to impress with brilliant colors fit for your occasion and a centerpiece representing your party mood. You could put your cookie display here or add in a floral arrangement. The base of the table should have a nice cloth. Add to it things that reflect happiness and excitement. For dinner, add napkins and plates. For something more casual, consider using a runner and placing your items along with it.

4. Don’t Ignore the Front Entrance

How you greet people shows your mood, so the doorway is a holiday must. Start with a floor mat that has a holiday color and a fun phrase or image. On the door, itself, hang a wreath or sign. Garland over the door is a nice touch, allowing the greenery to warm up the entryway. You could add a poinsettia plant to the side or when you walk inside. Consider adding bright white lights to the garland itself.

5. Focus on Cozy Decor

Let others find pleasure with the accent pieces in your space. Where are guests likely to go? In the living room, have colorful pillows and throws, ready to keep people comfy and warm. In the restroom, hang holiday towels, decorative hand napkins and scented soaps. If you plan to have people stay over, decorate the guest rooms with holiday decors such as a miniature tree or garland.

This holiday season encourages others to see your home as someplace special. Begin by reflecting on what image you want to create and then get to work, refreshing your rooms to represent the season. Next, upgrade the doorway, making it an enticing entry. Then, enhance common areas to show off more color and warmth. Lastly, consider what you offer, keeping it simple, fun and conversation. Make the time and effort to have fun and enjoy each other’s company.
