Aesynt Plans EHR Integration Capabilities For AcuDose-Rx®

Aesynt

AesyntTM, the leading provider of enterprise-wide medication management for all medication forms, today announced planned upgrades for AcuDose-Rx®, including electronic medical record (EMR) integration and new remote queuing and wasting features. The enhancements enable healthcare organizations to directly access Aesynt’s system, including its remote queuing and wasting functionalities, within the Epic EMR’s electronic medication administration record (eMAR) interface while at the bedside.

“This new EMR integration will advance these objectives by simplifying medication administration and creating faster and easier medication access for nurses within the last 50 feet of the bedside, leading to happier nurses, healthier patients and, ultimately, stronger healthcare organizations.”

The new capabilities will create a seamless workflow for nurses during the medication administration process by consolidating patient data into a single window. This will allow nurses to remotely order and waste medications within the EMR, thus reducing the need for queuing at the cabinet during medication pass, which can interrupt patient care. In fact, as nurses are distracted every two minutes on average during medication passes, the more efficient workflow will reduce the chances of errors and free nurses to spend less time dispensing medications and more time with patients.

“On the journey to perfecting medication management, our partners are always seeking new ways to maximize productivity and satisfaction among nurses, as they play an invaluable role in influencing the safety, quality and cost of patient-centric care,” said Kraig McEwen, chief executive officer at Aesynt. “This new EMR integration will advance these objectives by simplifying medication administration and creating faster and easier medication access for nurses within the last 50 feet of the bedside, leading to happier nurses, healthier patients and, ultimately, stronger healthcare organizations.”

The integration, which enables nurses to access Aesynt’s application within the same window of the EHR, will offer a holistic view of the patient’s record and medication data on one interface. It also will:

  • Use a single login to eliminate the need for concurrent operation of multiple systems
  • Alleviate the need for multiple trips to and from the medication cabinet by providing convenient remote medication ordering and wasting
  • Equip nurses to manage patient medications using their preferred tool, whether PC or mobile workstation
  • Offer nurses the ability to document at the bedside, expediting administrative processes and wasting procedures and reducing the risk of errors
