AMEOS Group streamlines and enhances over 200 interdisciplinary processes as part of one of the region’s largest digital transformation initiatives.
“Digitalization isn’t a sprint—it’s a marathon after a marathon. With the right strategy and our collaboration with Oracle Health, we can achieve our goals in a sustainable way.”
The AMEOS Group, a leading healthcare provider in the German-speaking region of Europe, delivers comprehensive medical services through more than 100 hospitals, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation and nursing facilities.
As part of one of Germany’s largest healthcare digitalization initiatives, AMEOS Group partnered with Oracle Health to develop a blueprint for implementing the i.s.h.med Model System—a preconfigured EHR with templates and supporting materials—across roughly 30 clinics over three years. This ambitious effort involved redefining and optimizing more than 200 interdisciplinary processes to streamline documentation, standardize and update software and hardware, and establish safer, clearer, and more efficient workflows. A key factor in the project’s success was AMEOS’s “train the trainer” approach, in which nearly 1,500 EHR superusers received intensive instruction from Oracle Health to serve as on-site first points of contact.
In addition to deploying a unified EHR system, the initiative included replacing or upgrading up to 30 other software applications, bringing over 3,000 computers up to current safety standards, and installing approximately 300 kilometers of data cabling. This comprehensive digitalization has significantly transformed daily workflows, as reflected by:
- Over 7.7 million patient history entries now captured digitally¹
- Nearly 11.9 million documents reliably accessible¹
- 12.6 million medication events securely recorded¹
¹The Blueprint system has been deployed across 30 AMEOS clinics. Data provided by AMEOS Group, covering the period from November 1, 2022, to May 31, 2025.
