Apr 19: Mobile health apps from EHR to diabetes picked as Webby award honorees

As part of the annual Webby Awards this year,  11 mobile health apps were chosen as honorees. They include behavioral health apps from the Veteran’s Administration, a diabetes app from GlaxoSmithKline and a personal health-record organizing tool for families.

My Wellness Journal is a personal health record app for iOS networks developed by Project Tiki. It organizes family health information, including medical history, medications, vaccinations, family history and procedures. It also integrates calendars and contacts and helps users take images and store information.

PingMD is a text-based communication platform to help physicians coordinate care.

GSK Diabetes HealthMate helps users track blood sugar readings and offers a visual perspective of how those readings relate to other factors such as mood, taking medication, activity levels, and diet.

AskMD is a symptom checker developed by ShareCare — a healthcare social network developed by Jeff Arnold.

AllergyTracker, a pollen app designed to go along with Johnson & Johnson’s Zyrtec allergy medicine.

Apps from WebMD, CVS, BabyCenter, Fitstar Labs and American Red Cross were also singled out.

It’s the 18th year for the award program highlighting websites, online videos and apps. The winners are scheduled to be announced April 28.
