Athenahealth to Boost Health Management at Trinity Health

athenahealth

athenahealth, Inc.

recently announced that it has been selected by Trinity Health to drive better clinical integration and people-centered care in the latter’s multi-state ambulatory network.

Trinity Health is expected to start using athenaOne at some of its physician network offices as early as July this year. athenaOne happens to be a collection of athenahealth’s cloud-based electronic health record (EHR), practice management, and patient engagement services.

The physician network offices will also look to implement athenaCoordinator, which is a care coordination service designed to bring together care teams, irrespective of whether they are directly employed or officially associated with the system.

The collaboration will eventually benefit the various communities that are served by Trinity Health. The integration of Trinity Health providers on a single-instance, cloud-based platform will help the company gain significant network insight, which, in turn, will optimize overall health care costs.

From the perspective of athenahealth, this development is an important one, particularly considering the company’s willingness to enter the in-patient market. We feel athenahealth’s initial success in clinics under Trinity Health, once achieved, will pave the way for further deployment of the company’s service in the in-patient market.

The company has lately been focusing on initiatives that will help it gain better market traction in in-patient settings.

In February this year, athenahealth collaborated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) to develop its acute care service offering across the U.S. Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham, a 58-bed community hospital.

As part of the deal, Needham health care providers will use newly developed athenahealth in-patient functionality alongside their existing software portfolio.

Additionally, Beth Israel Deaconess Healthcare (BIDHC) will look to implement athenahealth’s athenaOne EHR suite, revenue cycle management and patient engagement services. athenahealth also acquired RazorInsights earlier this year and successfully entered the 50-bed-and-under inpatient care space.
