BALL HANDLING – A BEGINNERS GUIDE

BALL HANDLING – A BEGINNERS GUIDE

A good set of shoes and a jersey for inspiration from Kobe jersey are all a must in the routine in basketball. But apart from that, dribbling, also known as a technique for moving the ball from one location to another while maintaining control. The dribble is defined as a prolonged bouncing movement between either arm; the dribble finishes after tackling both the palms. The palms ought to be swapped, and any amount of bounces and strokes can be taken.

DRILLS AT A STATION:

Learning to hold onto the ball well and having it are essential skills for becoming a great pro at the game. It is vital to grasp the need to tackle the means correctly, sourcing your hands to your advantage (spread them away from each other).

Gratuities:

Start with your hands straight up over your head and dribble the means with the help of both your palms. Then, while continuing to dribble it on a loop, gently lower it. And gradually bring it all the way steady to your collar bones, then down towards your waistline, thighs, and ankles, then up off the floor. Maintain a straight line with your elbows. The ball mustn’t come into contact with the ground!

Circular shapes:

Circulate your feet in a motion in this process by having them closer than usual. Then go around the rear of the house in a circle. Then go all over the head in a circle. Aim for circles and pitch them upwards, down your torso, through your thighs while also making sure you have your ankles in action. Then get back on your feet. Make sure you’re using your tips instead of your hands. Of course, the ball mustn’t come into contact with the ground.

DRIBBLING WITH 2 BALLS

We exercise ball management with two basketballs because it guarantees that both hands are equally strong, require total attention, and increase our professional and non-passing ability.

A helpful piece of advice is to ensure that you apply equal pressure by both your hands to the means you’re in the process and begin slowly to develop rhythm; once you get the hang of this, you may speed up.

Dribbles with two balls

Steadily dribble the basketball while simultaneously aiming towards a steady bounce, with every hand while holding a basketball in each hand. Begin by standing still; as you gain confidence, you could move around.

Wipers on the Windshield

Dribble the means immediately ahead of you while you feel yourself ahead in the game, such that they land in a configuration on the floor. It’s similar to how a car’s windscreen wipers work. With two balls, it’s a front and action.

Try dribbling on a flat surface with 2 Balls

Using your hands, concentrate on dribbling such that they all strike the wall at the same moment while maintaining up and steady, and as you can rhyme with the ball, follow your moves.

DRILLS ON THE GO

● Dribbling in a Zig-Zag Pattern

Run with the ball from the edge to the middle of the court in a zig-zag motion. Make sure you’re swinging your wrist right and your forearm forward. Every time the direction changes, change positions.

Dribble faster

The speed dribble would make you sweat eventually, but it’s all good if your sweat drips down on your Kobe jersey, like it did on Kobe Bryant. Dribbling fast involves moving the ball up the basement rapidly while facing little or no physical play. The dribbler palms should always be secondary to the ball, applying pressure towards the front before sprinting to hold on. Suppose you’re in an open court with no defenders. In that case, the speed dribble can be a little higher than others only if you’re in the process of dribbling quick, so take it up to down if you’re performing in a public session with no opponents around, Practice pace dribble from the perimeter from the far midline, and walk back to the beginning for your time to rest. This should be done ten times.

Dribble running backwards

Dribble backwards towards the midcourt line, then quickly dribble again to your initial position, beginning with your head to the midcourt line. Keep your head in the game.

REMEMBER:

Making errors is a good thing; if you aren’t making them, you aren’t doing much enough!!
