Baptist Health Selects Capsule for Medical Device Integration

baptist health

CapsuleTech, Inc., the leading global provider of medical device integration solutions, today announced that Baptist Health®, Louisville, KY, will implement the Capsule SmartLinx Medical Device Information System™ (MDIS).  The SmartLinx system will integrate medical device data from ICUs, med-surg, emergency departments and operating rooms, including pre-op and post-anesthesia care units (PACU) across seven facilities with Baptist’s Epic electronic medical record (EMR).

“Timely and accurate data are imperative for high acuity areas that require continuous monitoring and close surveillance of a patient’s condition,” said Paul Buttes MSN,RN,CNML Inpatient Clinical Director of Integrated EHR Solutions, Baptist Health.

Capsule’s SmartLinx is a powerful, vendor-neutral data management platform that ties together the medical devices across a healthcare enterprise into a unified system. SmartLinx consolidates clinical workflow and integrates with intelligent systems beyond the EMR, such as clinician decision support, alarm management, and asset management systems to drive informed clinical and operational decisions.  Through its powerful analytical and surveillance tools, clinicians can more rapidly recognize the signs of rapid patient physiological deterioration, while IT and clinical engineering can manage and monitor the enterprise-wide operational health and use of medical devices.

“The Capsule SmartLinx MDIS™ is significant step forward in device integration in its ability to help improve the delivery of care through the timely capture, management and delivery of actionable data where and when it’s needed,” said Kevin Phillips, Vice President Business Development and Product Management at Capsule. “Furthermore, our experience with Epic will help Baptist Health to maximize its device integration investment across the entire health system.”
