Beaumont Electronic Medical Records give patients quick, easy, safe access to health records

beaumont

When Bill Crute went for an annual check-up at his doctor’s office, he was asked if he’d like to access his medical records electronically. Within minutes he had a login ID and password and was able to check his health records with his mobile device.

Crute signed up for the electronic medical records through a program called myBeaumontChart, giving patients of participating Beaumont physicians secure, online access to their personal patient record. The password-protected site allows patients to see test results, schedule appointments, check payment balances, review immunization records and download educational materials related to their condition.
MyBeaumontChart also helps patients and their families become proactive partners in managing their health. Crute, an automotive supply chain manager from Pontiac, explains his
wife mostly takes care of his and their two children’s doctor appointments and health needs. Since enrolling in Beaumont’s electronic medical record system he says he has been “more in
charge” of his health.
“When I get low on a prescription I can order from my phone. A refill notification is sent to my doctor and within a day it is called in to the pharmacy and ready for me to pick up,” explains Crute, who also uses myBeaumontChart to reference test results and track his weight.
With an Internet connection, patients who sign up for myBeaumontChart can access their medical information from anywhere around the world. In addition to prescription refills and reviewing test results, other benefits of myBeaumontChart include access to: medications, allergies and medical history as soon as the information is entered into patient’s electronic chart discharge instructions after hospitalization health information from Medline Plus Patients can also use myBeaumontChart to: communicate with physicians by secure email make an appointment for a screening mammogram request an appointment for an outpatient test at a Beaumont Health System facility
To request an access code and sign up for myBeaumontChart, Beaumont patients can visit www.mybeaumontchart.com.
“It’s easy, convenient and my information is safe,” says Crute. “All doctors should be using electronic health records.”
