Breakfast Ideas for Busy People

It is true what they say: breakfast is the most important meal of the day! This is why, even if you are crazy busy, you should definitely try to eat something in the morning. Not everyone feels hungry right after they wake up, and that is okay, but if the only thing keeping you from eating a healthy meal before you launch into your day is that you are too busy then there are ways around that. Here are some great breakfast ideas for all of the busy people out there.

Overnight Oats

Do you want a protein filled, easily customizable meal that will be ready to eat the second you wake up? If so, overnight oats are perfect for you! There are many different recipes out there, but the general idea is that you mix oats, a liquid and your favorite fixings in a jar or bowl. Then, you let that sit in the fridge overnight. The last step is to open and eat for breakfast! There has been some discussion on the benefits of steel cut oats vs rolled oats in the usage of a recipe, but in general, using either one of them for overnight oats provides plenty of nutrients and different delicious textures.

Freezer Burritos

Freezer burritos are also easily customizable based on your preferences. The point is to make them ahead of time and then pop them in the freezer. When breakfast rolls around, grab a burrito, dethaw it in the microwave and you will have a gourmet meal ready in no time! You can make your burritos with tofu scramble and avocado if you are vegan, or you can use sausage meat with sauteed veggies and egg if you are more of a meat eater. Meal prepping burritos will change your morning outlook for sure.

Protein Smoothie

If you are in a huge hurry and need to take your breakfast to go, a smoothie is a great option. You can use your favorite frozen fruits, a solid protein powder and a source of healthy fats, like a banana or avocado, and blend it up. Pour that drinkable meal into a to-go cup and you have a balanced breakfast ready to travel. You can also throw in some super foods for that extra boost. Some common breakfast smoothie add-ins include hemp hearts, flax seed, wheat grass, chia seeds and spirulina.

Avocado Toast

Oh, the avocado toast. A millennial favorite that people love to make fun of. As much as people enjoy ribbing this meal, no one can deny it’s ease and great taste. You can always go for a simple piece of bread and cut up avocado, but the fun and health lies within your additions to the classic staple. Some popular combos include honey and red pepper, sauteed spinach and mushrooms and hummus with cut cucumbers. Add a piece of bread on top and you’ve got an avocado sandwich of sorts ready to go with you if you need to run out the door.

Yogurt and Granola

This is an often forgotten classic. Many people have their favorite yogurt and granola on hand which makes this the ultimate “oh no I forgot to meal prep my frozen burritos and need a filling, two minute breakfast!” Yogurt gets an A+ breakfast rating for its probiotics and healthy macro nutrient content. Granola provides a little more substance and a great taste! These two plus any fruity or chocolaty add ins is sure to motivate you to have a great day!
These are some healthy, easy and fast starter breakfast ideas for anyone who needs their morning meal to be simple and delicious. Because preparing and eating an extravagant, hour long meal is just not possible for most people, these are great options that definitely provide a similar experience in a fraction of the time. Try some of these out and see how ready you are to attack your day after a yummy meal!
