Cerner Wins Big Contract in Australia

cerner wins

Cerner Corp., which recently completed its acquisition of Siemens Health Services, just won its first big contract since the sale was completed.

The North Kansas City company (Nasdaq: CERN) won a 10-year contract to provide a medication management system to hospitals in New South Wales, Australia,KCUR reports. Cerner said earlier reports placing the value of the contract at $170 million were incorrect, and that the value of the contract was not disclosed.

According to KCUR, Cerner also remains in the running for a giant 10-year contract, estimated to be worth $11 billion, to update the U.S. Department of Defense’s electronic health record system. Cerner and two other competitors remain in the hunt for the contract, which is expected to be awarded this summer.

Correction

An earlier version of this story placed the value of the New South Wales contract at $170 million, citing the figure as published by KCUR. Cerner Corp. officials said that figure is incorrect and that the value of the contract was not disclosed.
