Columbus Regional Healthcare System Selects Cerner Integrated EHR to Support Improved Patient Care

cerner

Columbus Regional Healthcare System (CRHS) has selected Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, to implement a new integrated electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle solutions across its acute and ambulatory facilities. This agreement provides the hospital with sophisticated health care technology that will support CRHS clinicians as they work to streamline operations and improve patient care.

“We are excited to have Cerner’s support in improving the health and wellness of Columbus County and our surrounding communities,” said John Young, interim CEO, CRHS. “With Cerner’s integrated EHR and commitment to interoperability, CRHS will provide patients with high-quality health services and a streamlined health care experience now and into the future.”

CRHS will transition to Cerner Millennium®, a health care IT platform designed to support an individual’s care journey – from the doctor’s office to the hospital and outpatient clinics – with consistent patient engagement. The Cerner Millennium system will provide CRHS staff with a digital record of their patients’ health history, including clinical and financial data. Clinicians will have a more complete, near real-time view of an individual’s heath. Through the new online patient portal, people will be able to securely message doctors, schedule appointments, view and settle balances and access their health history.

Cerner Millennium will also support improved interoperability and communication between CRHS and parent hospital network Atrium Health. With CRHS and Atrium Health on the same integrated EHR, they will be able to share clinical and financial data to create a more streamlined experience for patients and clinicians.

“CRHS will take a major step toward improving the health care experience for their community by implementing our integrated EHR and health care solutions, putting their clinical and financial information in one patient record,” said Zane Burke, president, Cerner. “CRHS will also increase communication and information sharing in the region, creating a more seamless experience for patients between health care facilities.”

Cerner CommunityWorks℠ leverages cloud technology to deliver the power of Cerner Millennium, tailored to support the unique needs of community, critical access and specialty hospitals. CommunityWorks will support CRHS’s 154-bed hospital and 10 clinics as it works to improve the overall health of the community. CRHS offers comprehensive care to the Columbus County community, including an emergency department, critical care unit and urgent care center, as well as primary care services and more.

“CRHS is committed to being a force of good in its community, and Cerner is thrilled to support its staff in improving the wellness of the people they serve,” said Mitchell Clark, president, CommunityWorks, senior vice president, Cerner. “In addition to providing high-quality health services, the integrated EHR will help CRHS clinicians as they engage patients to promote healthy lifestyles throughout the community.”

With Cerner’s Clinically Driven Revenue Cycle™ solutions, CRHS clinicians will be able to view clinical and financial data in one patient record. In addition, CRHS will benefit from documentation that can improve reimbursement and limit claims errors.
