DataMotion & Infor Bring Seamless Patient Data Transfer EHR Integration

datamotion

New York’s Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association (GRIPA) has implemented a secure data exchange solution designed to improve communications for its membership, reduce costs and increase its ability to improve patient outcomes. The solution, implemented with DataMotion Direct Secure Messaging and the Infor Cloverleaf Cloud Health Information Exchange (HIE), enables improved population health capabilities by collecting data from disparate systems and delivering actionable patient information to the appropriate provider.

Until recently, GRIPA – an accountable healthcare organization affiliated with Rochester Regional Health System (RRHS) and including more than 1,000 employed and private practice physicians – faced challenges integrating with the many electronic health records (EHRs) among its physician practices. GRIPA had to hire medical record reviewers to visit practices for data gathering and auditing, manually comb through EHRs and paper charts, and enter the data into its centralized data repository. The organization had long relied on Infor’s Cloverleaf HIE and wanted to leverage its powerful features to achieve even greater efficiency, while providing its community with secure messaging and data transport.

In just weeks, DataMotion and Infor delivered a new solution that now enables physicians to exchange patient information securely with GRIPA through DataMotion Direct. By integrating with the Infor Cloverleaf Cloud HIE, new patient information can be combined with existing data from other sources. This ability to create comprehensive patient profiles provides the foundation for a proactive and data driven approach to health care. Additionally, the solution assists GRIPA in meeting insurance payer and the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) quality reporting requirements.

The new solution is now saving GRIPA time, money and resources, while providing it with an increased ability to improve patient outcomes. Furthermore, more accurate data collection can help lessen the chance of human error – and GRIPA can easily identify gaps in care to support quality initiatives, such as blood pressure screenings required by payers and Medicare. GRIPA can also analyze information and quickly turn it over to physicians regarding specific diseases or conditions, enhancing patient care quality. Care managers also benefit by having access to a consolidated summary of recent patient activity, lab results, medications lists, allergies and other information. This makes for more effective interactions with high-risk patients that require extra attention.

“There was a solid infrastructure in place to combine new patient data with existing clinical information into the Infor central data repository. Bringing in DataMotion builds upon that by helping us to meet Direct standards, integrate with more sources and leverage new data to improve patient care,” said the Chief Information Officer for GRIPA, Jamie Hayslip. “DataMotion and Infor are partners that are extremely beneficial to our organization by making time-to-value that much quicker.”

GRIPA’s selection further demonstrates DataMotion’s position as a leading health information service provider (HISP). To date, 50 EHR vendors have integrated DataMotion Direct into their solutions, 47 of those already achieving 2014 ONC-ACB certification through the solution. DataMotion Direct offers easy-to-use data transfer capabilities for “real-world” healthcare communications including secure email for sending and receiving protected health information (PHI), summary of care documents and large images for both in and out-of-network communications. It also allows organizations to quickly integrate with the Direct Project and comply with Meaningful Use Stage 2 criteria. DataMotion’s broad interoperability enables it to serve the healthcare spectrum, including healthcare providers, EHR, HIE and interface engine vendors.

“Today’s healthcare industry demands that organizations better connect to the medical community and streamline disparate systems, while providing a shared view of the patient’s record,” said Mike Poling, vice president, Healthcare, Infor. “Infor Cloverleaf Cloud Health Information Exchange enables organizations, like GRIPA, to meet these requirements while providing a foundation to consolidate patient information across the enterprise and ultimately improve patient safety and clinical outcomes.”

Infor Cloverleaf Cloud Health Information Exchange is a secure, standards-based infrastructure that integrates clinical data from across disparate systems and manages the wide variety of clinical records, document types and content pervasive in today’s healthcare community. Infor Cloverleaf Cloud Health Information Exchange meets the needs of the stakeholders in a healthcare organization by providing the underlying infrastructure that allows providers, payers and governments to collaborate. With Cloverleaf Cloud Health Information Exchange delivered as a service, organizations forego software and hardware licenses, reduce the need for large capital expenditures and save resources.

“GRIPA’s dedication to streamlined and improved care is shared by both Infor and DataMotion,” said Bob Janacek, chief technology officer for DataMotion. “In addition to the cost savings and operational benefits, GRIPA now has more accurate reporting to identify gaps, resulting in better patient outcomes. That we were able to accomplish this in a matter of weeks illustrates the great value of interoperability, as well as strong integration partnerships, to the healthcare industry.”
