Grand Blanc, MI, December 14, 2014 –(PR.com)– Comet-IS is pleased to announce that it has adopted HL7’s Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) into its Carefluence platform offering. FHIR is the newest standard specification framework for exchanging healthcare information electronically to address healthcare information interoperability between dissimilar computer systems.

FHIR and Carefluence have common goals. Carefluence was created for the purpose of improving community centered healthcare with simpler means of interoperability. Aditya Ayyagari, Chief Technology Officer for Carefluence, comments, “I think [FHIR] provides a common set of communication standards that will help address many of the interoperability issues between dissimilar medical record systems today. The Carefluence API was already architected to have RESTful APIs and when we evaluated the HL7 FHIR specification we found it was a good fit into our interoperability strategy.”

As a complement to all Carefluence technology partners in interoperability, the adoption of FHIR will allow future applications on the Carefluence platform to be built more easily and quickly. While FHIR is a significant improvement for healthcare providers, given its flexibility and EHR data-sharing components, this initiative is about engaging healthcare communities. The adoption of FHIR will allow Carefluence to further the promotion of community involvement in healthcare within groups of healthcare professionals and their patients.

Partners of Comet-IS will benefit from the contribution of FHIR advancements in the Carefluence platform. ModuleMD’s Electronic Health Records’ (EHR) native interoperability features are provided by Carefluence technologies. With the shift to FHIR the ModuleMD EHR will benefit from the connection to the Carefluence FHIR server providing their clients with enhanced seamless EHR communication.

Carefluence developers believe that the integration of HL7 FHIR standards is the future of healthcare interoperability. The adoption of FHIR standards are expected to play a vital role in improving the current EHR communication difficulties that providers are facing today.
