DisposeRx Executives Join President Trump at the White House As Historic Opioid Legislation is Signed Into Law

Industry Leader in At-Home Drug Disposal Donating Packets To Destroy 10 Million Opioid Pills in American Homes

CEO Issues Call to Action for All Americans to Clean Out Their Medicine Cabinets This Week

Southern Pines, NC – October 24, 2018 — DisposeRx Inc. (http://www.disposerx.com) celebrated a turning point in the opioid crisis today by joining President Trump at the White House as he signed into law a comprehensive legislative package designed to stem the nation’s opioid crisis. Joining President Trump, White House officials, and members of Congress, were DisposeRx Chief Executive Officer, Dr. John Holaday, DisposeRx President, William Simpson, and representatives from national retailers, advocacy groups and associations who have worked together to bring critical new programs, funding, and new technologies to bear on our nation’s opioid epidemic.

As part of the White House signing ceremony today, DisposeRx executives announced that they are donating a quantity of their DisposeRx at-home drug disposal packets sufficient to destroy over 10 million opioid pills.  DisposeRx President William Simpson commented on the initiative, “We are committed to stop the opioid epidemic by eradicating the misuse of unused medications. We will continue to work alongside government and industry leaders, including HR-6 co-sponsor Congressman Richard Hudson, and will join our pharmacy partners, such as Walmart, Rite Aid and Kroger, in donating our abuse-deterrent drug disposal packets so that 10 million opioid pills can be removed from home medicine cabinets, the source of over 70% of new addictions in this country.”

DisposeRx CEO Dr. John Holaday issued a call to action for all Americans, “With the passage and signing of this new legislation, the federal government has codified the value of site-of-use drug disposal to help reverse our nation’s prescription medication abuse crisis. Today, we begin the work to change the course of this epidemic by reshaping the culture and habits of prescription medication disposal. Leftover medications are potentially fatal time bombs that must be destroyed the moment they are no longer being used. We urge all Americans to use this week to clean out their medicine cabinets and put an end to needless overdoses and deaths from drug misuse, abuse and diversion.”

Congressman Richard Hudson, member of the House Energy and Commerce Sub-Committee on Healthcare and champion of the bipartisan endeavor to pass this legislation, discussed the federal government’s efforts to end the opioid crisis on a podcast released earlier this week on the series, “Opioids: Hidden Dangers, New Hope” that can be accessed at OpioidsHiddenDangers-NewHope.com and on iTunes at itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/opioids-hiddendangers-new-hope.

About DisposeRx Packets
