Drchrono adds lab, imaging, medication adherence to EHR via APIs and partnerships

Drchrono

Drchrono has announced four new medical application programming interface partners: Health Gorilla, Inuvio, Medisafe and Wink Health.

The electronic health records, revenue cycle and practice management vendor said on Monday that its free API and software development kit enable enable developers to build apps and functionalities for the medical community.

The partnership with Health Gorilla, for instance, brings direct access to U.S. labs to the drchrono platform. So, for example, a physician can order any diagnostic test from any U.S.-based laboratory within the Health Gorilla clinical network by tapping a few buttons on his or her iPad or iPhone or from the web. Some labs have strict lab order volume criteria; Health Gorilla enables any physician to get simple and secure access to labs, removing volume-driven obstacles, drchrono said. Health Gorilla is focused on developing and supporting iOS, Android and the web and will integrate directly into drchrono for labs and imaging ordering.

Inuvio, which offers technologies in scanning, imaging and data extraction for healthcare, has partnered with drchrono to help streamline patient data collection. Inuvio’s PatientCollector is an integrated, browser-based service designed to assist healthcare providers with digitizing and organizing physical patient data, enabling practices to scan and automatically extract data from insurance cards, driver’s licenses and passports, and import card images, patient photos and data, now directly into the drchrono platform.

The partnership with Medisafe, a mobile health platform for medication management with more than 2.7 million consumer users, embeds the Medisafe Providers offering inside drchrono. This will enable physicians and care teams from within drchrono to track patients’ medication adherence alongside biometric measurements, including blood pressure, glucose and weight, that a patient has entered or imported into the Medisafe mobile app through connected devices.

And with the Wink Health partnership, sleep studies from home can be integrated into the drchrono platform. Wink Health is using drchrono Medical API iFrame technology to enable doctors to order an FDA-approved sleep apnea diagnostic study from within a patient’s medical record. It takes a few minutes for the device to be ordered, and then Wink Health ships a device directly to a patient, Wink Health explained. A patient then takes the test and the Wink Health team can remotely pull the data from the device and send the information directly to a physician to review.

Drchrono registers more than 21 million API calls/transactions per quarter, the company said.
