EliseAI Raises $250 Million to Accelerate Healthcare Automation

EliseAI began as an artificial intelligence company focused on automating communication within the rental and leasing sector. Three years ago, the company pivoted toward healthcare, identifying a strong opportunity to apply AI in streamlining administrative processes.

According to Minna Song, co-founder and CEO of EliseAI, the startup is now addressing one of the most costly challenges in the healthcare system: front-desk and call center operations.

Administrative costs in U.S. healthcare exceed $600 billion annually, driven by manual processes and underinvestment in technology. “We’re helping patients receive faster responses, consistent support across every touchpoint, and improved accessibility,” said Minna Song, co-founder and CEO of EliseAI, in an email to Fierce Healthcare.

Building on its success in real estate and expanding presence in healthcare, EliseAI is positioning itself as a leader in vertical AI. The New York-based startup recently secured $250 million in Series E funding, led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), to accelerate its growth. The round also included participation from new investor Bessemer Venture Partners, as well as existing backers Sapphire Ventures and Navitas Capital.

According to Reuters, the latest funding round values EliseAI at over $2.2 billion—doubling its valuation from just a year ago.

Following its $75 million Series D raise last year, the company has doubled its workforce from 150 to over 300 full-time employees and launched new AI-driven products across both the real estate and healthcare sectors.

Earlier this year, EliseAI announced it had surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), marking a significant milestone in its growth trajectory.

The company is currently focused on partnering with medical practices—particularly within outpatient specialties such as dermatology, women’s health, ophthalmology, and orthopedics—where providers are grappling with workforce shortages, rising operational expenses, and heavily manual workflows.

According to CEO Minna Song, EliseAI’s platform integrates directly with providers’ electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage appointment scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations, virtual waitlists, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and billing inquiries.

In addition, the platform supports communication across multiple channels—including text, voice, email, and webchat—offering instant responses. It features voice support in seven languages and written responses in 51 languages. Leveraging its proprietary VoiceAI technology, EliseAI answers 100% of inbound calls instantly, 24/7, effectively eliminating hold times and missed calls.

Song emphasized the company’s strong focus on transforming these four key specialties. “As we continue delivering measurable results in these areas, we’re also laying the groundwork for broader impact across the healthcare landscape,” she said.

The newly secured funding will be used to significantly expand the team, with plans to triple its workforce—particularly in engineering, AI research, and product development—to drive innovation and enhance customer outcomes.

“We’re expanding our office hubs in New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago, and are actively looking for talent excited to help reshape industries that touch millions of lives,” Song added.

As the healthcare industry sees a surge in AI-driven solutions targeting front-office operations, many companies are stepping into the space to address communication inefficiencies and administrative burdens.

“What differentiates EliseAI is the depth of our domain expertise,” said Song. “By focusing on specialties like women’s health, dermatology, ophthalmology, and orthopedics, our AI goes beyond basic scheduling—it understands the intricate workflows and complex conversations unique to each field.”

EliseAI’s prior experience building a vertical AI solution for the housing industry—a similarly complex and highly regulated sector—has proven invaluable in shaping its healthcare offering, according to CEO Minna Song. The company has successfully leveraged key insights from its work in housing to address the unique challenges of healthcare administration.

“We’re committed to ensuring that patients receive faster, more consistent, and more accessible care, while providers benefit from meaningful efficiency gains and cost savings,” said Song. “Our specialty-specific expertise, combined with deep EHR integration, allows us to go beyond basic automation and truly serve as an extension of the front office.”

Healthcare providers using EliseAI’s platform are reporting notable efficiency improvements. According to the company, staff save two to three hours of administrative work per day, per team member, which can reduce overhead costs by up to 25%.

“Our VoiceAI technology reduces call center costs by a factor of three to five, eliminating overage charges and per-call billing,” Song explained. “In contact centers where a single call can cost $4 to $10, those savings add up significantly.”

Dr. Pierre Hage of Women’s Health CT – Obstetrics & Gynecology highlighted EliseAI’s tangible impact on clinical operations. “EliseAI has transformed our OB GYN call center operations by streamlining complex workflows, reducing patient wait times, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the overall patient experience,” he said. “With EliseAI, we’re moving toward 24/7/365 comprehensive practice management for both our patients and staff.”
