Federles Master Tutorial On Abdominal Imaging

The course is designed to provide the tools for participants to enhance abdominal imaging interpretation skills utilizing the latest imaging technologies. Time: 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Dr. Federle is a Professor Emeritus of Radiology at Stanford University. His prior positions include Associate Chair in charge of Education for Stanford University Department of Radiology, Chairman and Chief of Abdominal Imaging at the University of Pittsburgh and Chief of Radiology at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Federle graduated summa cum laude in Biology from Marquette University and received his MD from Georgetown University. He trained in Internal Medicine and Radiology at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, and pursued an abdominal imaging fellowship at UC San Francisco. His focus in clinical research and teaching is abdominal imaging with a particular emphasis upon CT scanning.

Within this broad field he has a wide range of specific and general interests, leading to over 300 publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as hundreds of book chapters. In addition, he has been the main editor and/or author of more than 20 textbooks of radiology. The most recent of these are the 2nd Edition of Diagnostic Imaging: Abdomen; Imaging Anatomy: Chest Abdomen Pelvis,; Expert DDx: Abdomen; and Specialty Imaging: Hepatobiliary and Pancreas, all published by Amirsys. In addition he was one of the key founders and contibutors to STAT Dx, an online decision-support system that has been adopted by residencies and practicing radiologists around the world.He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2010 Cannon Medal for Lifetime Achievement from the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists, the Gold Medallion of the Pennsylvania Radiological Society, and “Teacher of the Year” at Stanford, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of California, San Francisco. A “Michael P. Federle Mentorship Award” is given in his name annually at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
