Excel Medical Offers Streaming Physiological Data Across Epic’s Hyperspace, Canto, Haiku and Rover

excel

Excel Medical, an innovator in Medical Device Integration (MDI) and analytics, today announced its solutions offering for Epic clinical applications that extend beyond traditional MDI. Excel Medical is the first Epic App Orchard vendor to deliver real-time physiological data (waveforms, vitals, clinical alarms) into Epic’s clinical workflows through deep integration across its Hyperspace desktop as well as the Canto, Haiku and Rover mobile applications.

Excel’s solutions simplify the health system enterprise using a single platform supporting patient monitors, medical devices, alarm management, digital cardiac monitor documentation, and real-time physiological surveillance resulting in taming of the traditional chaos of IT environments. Excel Medical is known for disrupting the MDI status quo. For example, it has modernized cardiac telemetry by digitizing waveforms and alarm reports, primarily a paper process today.

Today’s clinicians are burdened with increasing time demands and need access to comprehensive patient data on-the-go, in real-time from within their electronic medical records. Excel’s enterprise MDI platform improves clinical workflows, clinical team satisfaction and reduces unexpected hospital deaths by providing greater access and assimilation of real-time patient data.

“We all are aware of the clinical limitations of traditional MDI: it simply provides a vital sign into a flowsheet,” said Lance Burton, president of Excel Medical. “This misses the majority of the patient’s clinical picture and impedes workflows. By delivering comprehensive clinical content across Epic’s suite of applications, Excel Medical supports better and faster clinical decision making with the goal of keeping our families and patients safe.”

Excel Medical is committed to providing leading healthcare customers with the highest level of satisfaction and clinical innovations.

About Excel

Excel Medical is the market leader in providing high resolution patient acquisition data, storage and delivery. The company’s technologies were designed with one goal in mind—to eradicate unexpected deaths in hospitals. There are more than 400,000 unexpected deaths in U.S. hospitals annually, making it the nation’s third-leading cause of death—behind only heart disease and cancer. Excel Medical’s “True North” is to make predictive analytics an actionable process, “predicting the preventable™”, making it possible to achieve zero unexpected hospital deaths. Excel Medical was founded in 1995, and its products/services are used by more than 80 percent of the top academic medical centers and children’s hospitals in the United States. Excel Medical works closely with leading healthcare innovators including IBM Watson, OBS Medical and Epic Systems. It is a privately-held company headquartered in Jupiter, FL, with customers throughout North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
