Extension Healthcare Wins Prestigious Health Tech Award

extension healthcare

FORT WAYNE, Ind.– Extension Healthcare announced today that it has received the Health Tech Award forTechPoint’s 16th annual Mira Awards program. TechPoint is the voice and catalyst of Indiana’s tech ecosystem and its Mira Awards recognize the best of tech in Indiana each year.

“The Mira Awards is our opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate these tremendous success stories and amplify them to thousands of people, including media, investors and technology buyers”

“We are excited and proud to have received this important award recognizing Extension’s contribution to health technology and to our local community,” said Todd Plesko, Chief Executive Officer at Extension Healthcare. Plesko added, “Our solutions have transformed the alarm middleware space and with a rapidly growing customer base we will continue to seek more talent from Indiana-based residents to support our growth.”

The judges were impressed by the results reported by hospitals using Extension Engage™ and the remarkable impact it has had from both a management perspective in the reduction of costs and the increases in efficiencies, as well as the positive impact on patient care.

An internal study by one customer found that Extension Engage is saving 700 FTE nursing hours per unit, per year. Another customer found that Engage reduced false-positive telemetry alarms by 75 percent and achieved their highest-ever patient satisfaction scores. Additionally, Lutheran Health Network services all of its northeast Indiana hospitals with the Engage platform.

The Extension Engage Mobile™ smartphone app presents a single view that displays alarms, alerts, and texts in order of priority, and provides a clinician with contextual data to enable a data and event-driven response. In addition to delivering actionable information, event response options enable the nurse to quickly select and communicate with relevant members of the care team via call or text message. Engage Mobile dynamically generates a list of relevant staff customized to the patient and the alarm/alert, and helps reduce unnecessary interruptions and the associated alarm fatigue. There are no “like” solutions that manage critical medical device alarms, EHR/STAT/Lab alert notifications, and secure texting in a single platform.

“The Mira Awards is our opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate these tremendous success stories and amplify them to thousands of people, including media, investors and technology buyers”, said Mike Langellier, president and Chief Executive Officer of TechPoint.

Forty-three independent, volunteer judges spent more than 700 collective hours reviewing and ranking the applications, interviewing the nominees and choosing the winners. Judges are primarily subject matter experts and experienced company founders and executives.

Extension is seeking local talent for a range of positions to support its fast-growing team. Residents in NE Indiana interested in software development and quality assurance positions with Extension Healthcare should submit resumes tocareers@ExtensionHealthcare.com. A complete listing of available positions can be found on the Extension Healthcare/Careerspage.

Extension Healthcare

Extension Healthcare’s alarm safety and event response platform isn’t just the next evolution of alarm safety solutions. Extension is addressing the critical problem of interruption fatigue and is transforming the way caregivers respond to patient events, and forever changing the way caregivers communicate. As an enterprise platform Extension intelligently manages clinical alarms, alerts, orders, labs, RTLS and others, while facilitating instant care team communication with patient-centric texting, both inside and outside of the hospital. Extension Engage Medical Device Alarm Notification has been granted FDA 510k Class II clearance for secondary notification.
