Carpathia Releases Beta Healthcare Cloud Service

athenahealth

Carpathia has announced a beta release of the company’s infrastructure-as-a-service offering that seeks to help providers comply with federal health information technology regulations.

The Healthcare Community Cloud Service is designed for healthcare organizations to manage cloud computing and storage applications while adhering to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, Carpathia said Wednesday.

Philip Hedlund, vice president of business operations at Carpathia, said the company aims to help clients address security and compliance issues with the IaaS platform.

The company developed HCCS to leverage EMC‘s VNX storage system for sensitive electronic protected health information and VMware‘s vRealize cloud management technology.

Carpathia will use business associate agreements to deliver the cloud service to healthcare clients.
