Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine has become the first health system to integrate David—a generative AI clinical co-pilot developed by Tempus—into its electronic health record (EHR) platform.
Clinical, operational, and technical teams from both organizations are working together to tailor the co-pilot to Northwestern Medicine’s specific needs, according to a Sept. 4 press release shared with Becker’s.
David is built to support clinicians with functions such as natural language queries, pre-appointment summaries, intelligent note-taking, and post-visit documentation and care planning. The integration will also leverage core elements of Tempus’ AI infrastructure, enabling multimodal patient record support and the introduction of new AI agents.
Northwestern Medicine stated that the initiative is aimed at reducing administrative burdens while improving clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
