New Organizational Changes to Help Advance Mission of Enhancing Care Outcomes in Texas

SAN ANTONIO (PRWEB) April 29, 2019

Healthcare Access San Antonio (HASA), the non-profit, community HIE for North, South and West Texas, recently announced that it has promoted Dr. Phil Beckett to CEO of the organization. Gijs Van Oort, PhD, recently stepped down as CEO.

HASA has also undergone other organizational changes, which includes Dr. Vanessa Hill, Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, was named Chair of the Board of Directors. In addition, Mark Holliday, Director of Information Technology & Services at Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, is now Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, and Jim Hoag has been named Chief Operating Officer.

“Our mission as an HIE is aligned with the quadruple aims of improving outcomes, decreasing costs and enhancing the experience of healthcare and providers by the appropriate sharing of data,” said Beckett. “More data in and of itself does not deliver value. Real value occurs when, as an ecosystem, we close the loop and data drives improvements. By facilitating seamless access to useful external data to providers and care coordinators, HASA becomes an essential component of quality care delivery.”

“I am excited about our choice of Phil Beckett as the new CEO. Phil does a great job collaborating with local providers, other HIEs and at the state & national levels,” said Holliday. “He has a good understanding of what the need is at the clinical level. Phil is ideal to lead HASA to become the ‘go to’ for data sharing with providers in Abilene, Corpus Christi, Dallas-Ft Worth, San Angelo, San Antonio and many rural communities in between.”

“I am thrilled about this opportunity to take on the role of Board Chair for HASA,” said Hill. “I understand the value of clinical leadership and want to make a difference in the broader healthcare environment. My focus is on curated data so doctors get only what they need and can provide better patient care for all of our communities across the state.”
