HCCA/ TRMC to launch new electronic health record system

HCCA

Once again, Healthcare Conglomerate Associates/ Tulare Regional Medical Center is taking steps to enhance the health-care services it provides to its patients.

On October 17, 2016, HCCA/ Tulare Regional Medical Center and its Medical Offices will roll out a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system called Care Team Connect. The implementation provides a number of exciting changes that will enhance the patient experience.

Care Team Connect is the result of HCCA/ TRMC’s momentous partnership with Cerner, a leading supplier of health-information technology. The system will consolidate departmental systems such as Pharmacy, Radiology, Laboratory into a single platform that is embedded into the framework of the hospital information system. Care Team Connect will also incorporate Admitting, Medical Records, and Patient Accounting into a seamless workflow for the entire HCCA/ TRMC care team.

With Care Team Connect HCCA/ TRMC patients will enjoy:

· Less Hassle and Paperwork: All HCCA/ TRMC facilities, hospital and medical offices alike, will share a single system, eliminating multiple points of registration. In addition, insurance or contact information changes will only need to be updated once.

· One patient record per individual for better and more convenient care: Each site will share one comprehensive medical record per individual. Patient information will flow seamlessly at all HCCA/ TRMC sites and care providers will have access to all of a patient’s test results and records at once, reducing the potential for unnecessary repeat tests.

· Patient Portal allows access to health records at any time: Each patient will have the ability to access HCCA/ TRMC’s new patient portal, MyCare Team Connect, from any internet-connected computer. Through the portal patients can view their most important health information, check appointments, download lab results, pay bills, and securely communicate with physicians and their offices.

To ensure that the data in the Care Team Connect health record system is the most accurate it can be, HCCA/ TRMC will be asking all patients to do an initial full registration. This initial full registration may result in some additional time, but future visits will be expeditious. In addition, a key improvement to the HCCA/ TRMC registration process is CrossChx, a surer way of positively identifying a patient. CrossChx securely registers a fingerprint without storing it and creates a unique identification number based on it. This helps to ensure ‘Mike Doe’ and ‘Michael Doe’ are the same individual for continuity of care.

Care Team Connect is the latest innovation implemented since HCCA began managing TRMC in January 2014. “Our new electronic health record and CrossChx systems provide increased efficiency, accuracy and ease of access for our patients and providers,” states Kathleen Johnson, VP of Marketing at HCCA/ TRMC. “We are embarking on a new exciting chapter of clinical excellence here at Tulare Regional Medical Center.”
