Health Partners Picks EHR; Spartanburg Buys Analytics Package

improving the health

HDM’s regular roundup of new technology contracts and deployments includes an electronic health records system for a new behavioral health hospital and a financial platform for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System:

Health Partners New England, an outsource firm that manages psychiatric and substance abuse services in hospitals, will continue that work but is opening its first behavioral hospital and will use the OpenVista electronic health records from Medsphere Systems Corp. The contract includes implementation and support services from consultancy Phoenix Health Systems, a division of Medsphere. The new TaraVista Behavioral Health Center is in Devens, Mass.

Four-hospital Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, serving parts of North and South Carolina, has selected the StrataJazz financial, performance improvement, strategic planning and capital management analytics platform of Strata Decision Technology. The platform will integrate with Spartanburg’s Epic electronic health record and Lawson enterprise resource planning system.

Sisu Healthcare IT Solutions will migrate to the cloud and host the Meditech electronic health record of Redwood Area Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Minnesota. Replacing servers and upgrading various components of the EHR would have cost millions of dollars and not provide the security of off-site hosting, Redwood Area Hospital CEO Bryan Lydick said in a statement. He expects the partnership to save more than $1 million.

Privia Health, with 1,200 providers serving parts of five states and Washington, DC, already uses the athenaOne bundle of electronic health records, practice management and care coordination software of Athenahealth. Now, the group practice is adding the vendor’s population health management software to risk-stratify patients and better align clinical protocols and resources. Privia health operates a Medicare shared savings accountable care organization that generated $5.7 million in savings during its first year.

Bendigo Health in the state of Victoria in Australia bought the TrakCare single-repository electronic health record and clinical decision support software of InterSystems for the new Bendigo Hospital opening in early 2017. The EHR will integrate with pathology, radiology, pharmacy, maternity and patient administration systems. The vendor also will implement data analytics and a patient portal.
