Heidelberg acquires EMR company

Heidelberg Engineering has acquired the U.K.-based ophthalmology electronic medical records provider Medisoft Limited, according to a company press release.

Heidelberg, which is based in Germany, has appointed Arianna Schoess and Kfir Azoulay to the board of directors for Medisoft, which will continue to operate out of its Leeds, U.K., headquarters, the release said.

Whereas the company’s core business remains “state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging platforms,” ophthalmic software solutions “will play an increasingly growing role in Heidelberg Engineering’s portfolio,” according to the release.

“The acquisition of Medisoft brings together a highly experienced team and market-proven EMR capabilities with Heidelberg Engineering’s expertise in image management and diagnostic imaging systems,” Christoph Schoess, managing director for Heidelberg, said.
