HIMSS Analytics Honors Hattiesburg Clinics With Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards

HIMSS Analytics awarded 6 Hattiesburg clinics with Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards.

Developed in 2011, the EMR Ambulatory Adoption Model provides a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for ambulatory facilities owned by hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database. Stage 7 represents the highest level of EHR adoption and indicates a health system’s advanced electronic patient record environment.

As of the third quarter of 2015, only 7.79 percent of the more than 35,000 U.S. ambulatory clinics in the HIMSS Analytics® Database received the Stage 7 Ambulatory Award.

“The leadership of Hattiesburg Clinic greatly values the HIMSS Stage 7 designation that we recently received. We’ve made a strategic investment in our EHR, and this is confirmation that this technology is helping us to enhance operational efficiencies, and ultimately, make quality improvements for our patients,” said Tommy G. Thornton, FACMPE, executive director. The designation of Stage 7 was a team effort of our physicians along with the outstanding medical and administrative personnel. We are confident that we will maintain our Stage 7 designation and continue to improve the quality, cost-effectiveness, access and value of healthcare through information technology for our patients in South Mississippi.”

Hattiesburg Clinic was established in 1963 when 10 physicians partnered with a mission to focus on excellence and service to the patient. Today, Hattiesburg Clinic is Mississippi’s largest privately-owned multispecialty outpatient facility. While the clinic has grown to over 350 physicians and providers caring for patients in more than 18 counties in the state, its mission has remained the same.

“The Hattiesburg Clinic is making great progress in its population health strategy. Their focus on using the EHR is impressive as they are providing advanced chronic care and pain management services by working to predict hospitalization risk and then proactively addressing risk factors to prevent hospitalizations,” said John Daniels, CNM, FACHE, FHIMSS, CPHIMS, global vice president, healthcare advisory services group, HIMSS Analytics. “

The Hattiesburg Clinics will be recognized at the 2016 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on Monday, Feb. 29-Friday, March 4 at the Venetian – Palazzo – Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
