Hoag Partners with Philips to Advance Unified Patient Monitoring Across Orange County

The 10-year partnership will deploy scalable monitoring technology to streamline workflows and enhance patient safety, experience, and clinician efficiency.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Newport Beach, Calif., USA – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, and Hoag, Orange County’s top-ranked hospital, have announced a landmark 10-year strategic partnership to modernize and unify patient monitoring across Hoag’s two acute care hospitals. This includes the expanded Sun Family Campus in Irvine, set to open in mid-2026 with 155 new inpatient beds. The collaboration aims to deliver continuous monitoring that supports early intervention, patient-centered care, and data-driven clinical decisions throughout the hospital system.

As part of the agreement, Hoag will implement Philips’ Enterprise Monitoring as a Service (EMaaS) model and deploy the latest IntelliVue MX750 bedside and X3 transport monitors across its network. Together, these technologies will create an integrated monitoring ecosystem built on the Philips Patient Information Center (PIC iX), which combines real-time data, decision support tools, early warning scores, and advanced analytics to help clinicians deliver the right care at the right time. The EMaaS model ensures ongoing innovation and financial predictability.

“Our partnership with Philips reflects a shared commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation, trust, and collaboration,” said Rick Martin, Hoag’s Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. “By creating a seamless monitoring environment that follows patients throughout their care journey, we’re improving safety, comfort, and continuity. Clinicians gain constant insight into each patient’s condition, enabling more personalized and effective care for our community here in Orange County.”

The integration of Philips’ MX750 and X3 systems delivers a dynamic, software-driven monitoring solution that allows clinicians to instantly adjust monitoring levels and seamlessly adapt any bed to a patient’s changing acuity needs. This flexibility supports rapid response, continuous monitoring, and consistent care delivery. Scalable, secure, and interoperable, Philips’ technology connects directly with Hoag’s electronic health record (EHR) system to promote efficient, coordinated, and data-driven care.

“This collaboration marks a pivotal step in reimagining care around the needs of patients and clinicians,” said Julia Strandberg, Chief Business Leader, Connected Care, Philips. “By implementing flexible, integrated monitoring across Hoag’s network, we’re creating a smarter, more adaptive care environment that enhances clinical performance, simplifies workflows, and delivers critical insights in real time. Together, we’re building a connected, scalable foundation for the future of healthcare.”
