How Effective Is CBD Oil For Pets?

How Effective Is CBD Oil For Pets?

It seems that CBD is now in everything. We have a ton of different products containing it. It’s in water, in chocolates, gummy bears, brownies, gels, oils, and the list goes on. Chances are that you’ve at least heard someone mention the name or maybe some of the benefits. Or perhaps you are someone who suffers from a painful condition and uses it.

Anyway, the truth is that this compound is extremely beneficial. It’s just one of many found in the marijuana plant, and it’s used for both therapeutic and recreational activities. CBD should not be confused with THC. First of all, CBD stands for cannabidiol. On the other hand, THC is short for tetrahydrocannabinol. The first one is known for its healing properties, whereas the latter gets you high. Click here to read more.

Seeing that a lot of states and other countries are legalizing it, it’s essential to know the differences. Getting more information on a subject never hurt anyone. However, with this trend, new questions also arise. People are wondering whether they can give it to their pets. They also experience pain, seizures, and anxiety, so it must help them too.

Giving pets CBD

Many renowned vets are discussing this topic. We still don’t know if it’s really helping them with pain or only making them not care about it. However, they are less reactive to low-level pain, and that’s been proven in dogs with arthritis. It is also true for specific anxieties such as getting into a car, the sounds of fireworks and guns, as well as loud neighborhoods.

However, this doesn’t mean that you should go ahead and give your dog marijuana to chew on it. That would be entirely wrong and potentially dangerous. The THC in it will get them the stoned feeling that you get. That would be upsetting for any pet since they won’t know what’s going on. If that happens, you need to take them to the vet immediately. On the other hand, CBD has all of the benefits, but it doesn’t have the psychoactive part of it. Scientists still aren’t sure how products containing this compound really work. But, they do work, and they treat conditions like arthritis and pain magnificently. However, there are tons of different things to try, so what’s the best one?

The most common products are oils, treats, and gels. Now, there has been some research regarding all three of them. The scientists tried all of these methods over the course of a few weeks to a base group of dogs suffering from pain. What they found out confirmed what was already being discussed online. Mainly, the dogs felt better.

But that’s not all. They also proved that oils are the most beneficial. The benevolent effects were felt longer. As well as that, the CBD stayed in the blood much longer than the gels or the treats. The main guess is that the liver is responsible for metabolizing. And with the oils, the effects started the earliest and lasted the longest. Also, they are the safest products to use.

Treats and creams can sometimes be dangerous. For example, treats intended for people can also contain additives and artificial sweeteners, which can be lethal for your pets. That’s why you should always opt for products that are intended for pet use. They will also have a lower percentage of CBD.

The biggest mistake that people make is they give too much oil. This makes their pets surprisingly drowsy. In order to avoid that, you can start off with the lowest dose possible, and then gradually work your way up. The best place to put the oil is under the tongue of your cat or dog.

By using this, you can get your old furry friends back again. If they stopped playing a long time ago, they would have no problems doing it now. You will see it in their eyes too. Eliminating pain is fantastic and feels great for everyone. You could do the things you loved once again. It will reduce inflammation as well, and it will also improve their appetite.

A few final words

Before you do anything, it’s best to consult with an expert or a vet. Word of mouth is the best when it comes to what works and whatnot. However, vets deal with all kinds of questions, and they are more than ready to tell you what exactly you need to do. For example, if your pet has any other underlying conditions, giving them, CBD might interfere. As well as that, if the pet has any kind of liver problems, it’s not a good idea to give it to them. Still, your vet might also recommend some products which are working for other pet owners.
