Using system will allow primary care providers in Ann Arbor, MI, practice to advance patient care, improve documentation and streamline logistics.

Benchmark Systems Inc., a leading company offering web-based medical practice software, announced last month that it will provide service to Emmaus Health, a provider of primary care in Ann Arbor, MI, implementing an automated, fully integrated electronic medical record system addressing both clinical and business concerns.

“We are excited to have Emmaus Health as one of our partners,” said Ernie Chastain, vice president of Benchmark Systems Inc. “Their dedication to patient care sets a great example for our staff to offer the same level of service and care to their practice. We’re very proud that after an extensive search, Emmaus Health chose Benchmark as their technology provider.”

Electronic medical records, as part of the more comprehensive idea of electronic health records, have been growing in popularity as the technology advances and more policies are put in place to incentivize digitizing these aspects of care and administration. But software solutions from various medical software companies differ in the functionalities included.

Using the Benchmark Systems Inc. technology, Emmaus Health will be able to electronically document each patient encounter as it happens, as well as share information with referring doctors, labs and pharmacies in real time. “This streamlining of information exchange accelerates patient care,” Chastain explained. Care providers will also have secure remote access to patient charts, and an online patient portal will allow patients to complete forms and submit preliminary information before office visits even take place.

The technology suite selected by Emmaus will also include applications geared toward administrative operations. This includes automated coding that will make both front- and back-office procedures more efficient.

“This is leading edge-technology,” Chastain stated. “Emmaus recognized Benchmark’s ability to expedite patient information and cash flows through use of superior technology and a five-star support staff, and we will work very hard to not only meet, but exceed, their every expectation.”
