Jan 09: ONC to host HIT-related patient safety webinar

hit-related patient safety
The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) is inviting healthcare organizations to participate in a January 10 health IT and patient safety webinar entitled “How to Identify and Address Unsafe Conditions Associated with Health IT.”
Here is the full message from the ONC:
The Office of the National Coordinator invites you to participate in an upcoming webinar on Health IT and patient safety. This webinar is based on the guide, “How to Identify and Address Unsafe Conditions Associated with Health IT” on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 1:00pm ET.
This guide is intended to help healthcare organizations lay the foundation for a process to identify health IT hazards, using both internal and external resources, by —
• identifying five common health IT problems that can contribute to the unsafe use of health IT systems within a complex healthcare environment;
• examining the role of internal reporting systems to identify and address unsafe scenarios for health IT systems and to continually monitor health IT systems’ safety and make improvements;
• discussing the role of external reporting programs, such as patient safety organizations (PSOs), and
• reviewing the role of EHR technology developers in working with healthcare providers and external reporting programs to identify and manage health IT system improvements.
We strongly encourage individuals to attend if you are interested in addressing how adverse events and unsafe conditions can optimize the safety of health IT, including:
• individuals within healthcare organizations who are responsible for safe clinical use of the EHR, risk management, quality assurance and performance improvement, and IT implementation and maintenance
• patient safety organizations and healthcare risk management organizations
• EHR technology developers
• organizations involved in healthcare incident reporting and analytics, including software developers and analytics companies
Register to attend!
