Jan 17: Next phase of electronic health record to be announced Friday

electronic health record

The event will take place in the main lobby of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor at 1 p.m.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information has been working on bringing provincewide electronic health records to Newfoundland and Labrador, a move deemed more important following revelations in recent years that dozens of people had their patient records inappropriately accessed by a small number of health authority employees.

Class-action lawsuits were filed against Central Health, Western Health and Eastern Health, and several employees were fired for accessing the files with no good reason.

Sullivan will be joined Friday by Mike Barron, CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information; Richard Alvarez, CEO of Canada Health Infoway; and John Bautista, clinical pharmacist with Central Health. Source
