Medical Scribe Systems Presenting at Michigan College of Emergency Physicians Assembly

Physicians attending the annual MCEP Assembly will learn how Medical Scribe Systems improves revenue cycle and patient satisfaction scores.

Physicians will have the opportunity to learn how medical scribes improve revenue and patient satisfaction at the MCEP Assembly on Mackinac Island, July 27-30.

Medical Scribe Systems (MSS), the nation’s leading provider of scribe programs specializing in revenue cycle enhancement, will be at Booth #12 to address how scribes are becoming an industry best practice for EMR implementation and utilization.

Medical Scribe Systems CEO Garret Erskine says scribes help prevent physician stress and burnout by charting in real time during the patient examination. This allows the physician to better engage with the patient while improving chart accuracy and completeness.

“Learning the intricacies of an EMR system can be a huge burden on providers when they’re trying to interact with their patients,” says Erskine. “Scribes are rigorously trained on the EMR, capture patient findings in real time, and allow the physician to focus on patient care instead of the computer.”

A recent study published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine showed that physicians can spend up to 44 percent of their shift inputting data into the EMR and click up to 4,000 times.

Contemporaneous data capture provided by MSS has been shown to improve charge capture and key revenue cycle metrics, including:

  •     Reduction in lost charges
  •     Reduction in downcoded visits
  •     Reduction in downcoded procedures

The MSS scribe program is managed using continuous process improvement for optimizing revenue cycle results, explains Erskine.

“Our site-specific approach to process improvement allows MSS to address the unique set of issues and challenges at the site level,” says Erskine.

Medical Scribe Systems employs about 2,000 scribes and has scribe programs in nearly 100 hospitals and clinics across the country. For more information about the MSS scribe program, visit medicalscribesystems.com or call (877) 819-5900 ext. 2.
