KLAS report examines changing interactive patient system universe

Over 80% of interviewed Epic and Cerner customers considering an interactive patient system (IPS) plan to deploy their EMR vendor’s solution. This, even though providers say the solutions are less robust than best-of-breed options. These findings are revealed in the latest KLAS report, “Interactive Patient Systems 2014: Are EMR-Vendor Solutions Changing the Game?

The report also focuses on how well current IPS products perform, which systems are being deployed outside of the hospitals, the strengths and weaknesses of customer support and which vendors partner with their clients. “For at least some of the providers contemplating a purchasing decision, integration is clearly outweighing functionality,” says report author Adam Cherrington. “If providers have an IPS product then they are staying put, but if they are in the market and their EMR vendor has an IPS product, then the best-of-breed products often don’t even get considered.” As part of this study, KLAS interviewed organizations across the country about their IPS products. The solutions reviewed in the study include products from Cerner, Epic, GetWellNetwork, Skylight, SONIFI HEALTH, TeleHealth Services and TVRC. For more-detailed information on each vendor’s performance, visit KLAS online at www.KLASresearch.com/reports to see the KLAS report “Interactive Patient Systems 2014: Are EMR-Vendor Solutions Changing the Game?” The report is available to healthcare providers and vendors. Providers receive a significant discount off the standard retail price or can receive a complimentary summary report in exchange for a survey about one of their current suppliers.
