Women-founded and YC-backed, Knowtex delivers ambient AI to the country’s largest integrated
healthcare system
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Knowtex, a leading provider of ambient clinical intelligence, announced that it has secured a $15 million contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and was recognized as a Top 3 Winner of the 2024 AI Tech Sprint for Ambient Scribe. In October 2025, Knowtex will roll out its AI-powered documentation platform across the VA health system. This partnership marks a significant milestone for Knowtex as a premier federal partner and highlights the increasing demand for scalable, secure, and specialty-focused AI solutions in healthcare.
As the largest integrated healthcare system in the U.S., the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) encompasses 170 medical centers, 1,193 outpatient clinics, and other care sites, serving over 9.1 million veterans annually. The decision to partner with Knowtex highlights the company’s ability to deliver enterprise-grade speed, compliance, and interoperability at a national scale.
“Our platform was designed from day one to manage the complexity of real-world medicine across every specialty—from oncology and orthopedics to mental health and primary care—while identifying opportunities for better care through accurate coding, automated order entry, relevant clinical trials, and AI-driven quality assessments that ensure no veteran’s story or care opportunity is lost,” said Caroline Zhang, CEO of Knowtex. “We built this company on the belief that clinicians should never be constrained by their EHR. That’s why our platform is EHR-agnostic, specialty-specific, and built to free providers from documentation burdens, so they can focus on what matters most: caring for patients.”
VA CTO and Chief AI Officer Charles Worthington testified before the House Committee on Veterans Affairs that the agency’s “strategic vision is to make VA a leader in AI, delivering faster services, higher-quality care, and more cost-effective operations.”
The upcoming deployment across the VA network will advance Knowtex’s mission to create a more human-centered healthcare system by reducing administrative burdens, enhancing accuracy, and equipping clinicians with technology tailored to their needs.
Knowtex’s ambient AI platform produces complete, high-quality clinical documentation, including notes, codes, and orders. By embedding directly into physician workflows and integrating seamlessly with electronic health record systems, Knowtex enables providers to capture patient data with accuracy, speed, and context. Unlike generic solutions, Knowtex offers specialty-specific models that ensure documentation aligns with the unique requirements of each clinical practice.
“As a female-founded, Y Combinator-backed startup, we are deeply honored to see Knowtex’s innovative technology recognized at the national level,” said Jocelyn Kang, CTO of Knowtex. “The VA’s selection validates our vision for a future where every patient’s story is fully heard and acted upon, supported by a trusted, invisible layer of clinical documentation that lets providers spend less time charting and more time delivering personalized care.”
