Aroostook Mental Health Center

Aroostook Mental Health Center is a private, non-profit behavioral health care organization with operations in Aroostook, Hancock, and Washington Counties Maine.

Celebrating more than 50 years of service to our communities, AMHC is a non-profit provider offering a comprehensive and integrated array of mental health, substance abuse, community health care, and brain injury services. AMHC services address individual needs, respect the rights of each individual, and encourage ongoing individual and family responsibility for health and well-being. This builds a foundation of trust in a therapeutic relationship that is vital to ensuring an optimal outcome. Annually, AMHC serves more than 7,500 individuals of all ages across all services. AMHC is located in Northern and Downeast Maine and because of the breathtaking natural beauty that Maine has to offer, it is no wonder that Maine has long been considered “Vacationland.” AMHC’s service area spans from the St. John Valley in Northern Maine to the south across the rolling farmlands of Aroostook County to the craggy shores of the Atlantic Ocean in Washington and Hancock Counties. Aroostook County is the home of Nordic skiing in the United States and offers world-class cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on hundreds of miles of pristine trails. The Maine Winter Sports Center in Presque Isle and Fort Kent is a training site and competition venue for the world’s best U.S. Biathlon athletes who compete at the World Championships and in the Winter Olympics. Along the Atlantic Ocean in Washington and Hancock Counties, you will find the most beautiful seascapes and lighthouses imaginable with the opportunity to eat fresh lobster, clams, shrimp and fish right off the dock. Acadia National Park, the fourth most visited National Park in the nation, is in Bar Harbor and is visitor accessible year-round. In Northern and Downeast Maine, homeownership is affordable, small schools are the norm, and small town community life is plentiful.
