Hello and welcome to our online home. CALAB Inc., is composed of people who are dedicated, friendly and caring. We have made it our goal to offer those with intellectual and developmental disabilities encouragement to reach their full potential and enjoy a quality life with as many happy moments as the day makes possible. We love it when people get to know us, ask to join our team, or compliment us on what we do so please, browse around!

CALAB Inc. stands for Community Assisted Living & Associated Benefits. We’re an organization of individuals that believe we can provide a quality life to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our goal as an agency is to help individuals needing assistance under the Texas ICF-ID Program as well as the HCS and TxHmL community waiver programs. We are an employer dedicated to the growth and development of our awesome teams and an organization that understands the importance of providing laughter, great memories, and a quality lifestyle to all the intellectually and developmentally disabled members that we are privileged to serve. We are a proven leader in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities and we work hard and passionately to make sure that all necessary services for an individual to gain independence are within his/her reach.

CALAB was founded in 1993 by Carol A. Bell. Carol began providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 1984 when she opened one of the very first public Texas ICF-ID group homes in Lubbock, TX.

In 1993 CALAB began providing services to 60 individuals in ICF-ID homes across Texas. All CALAB Board Members and Program Directors have more than twenty years of experience providing exceptional services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Today, CALAB provides residential and community services to 400+ individuals, day activity services to 200+ individuals, and employs over 500 awesome individuals.

We believe that caring for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities begins with establishing a foundation based on passion as well as comprehension. We inspire those we serve to live their lives to their full capacity. Our philosophy is that encouragement enables individuals to experience personal growth in all areas of their lives. We serve with purpose, we care with hearts wide open, and we love our work because we believe in it.

Our mission is to nurture and teach individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an environment that allows them to make choices, grow in capabilities and learn to their fullest potential. We stand on the belief that all individuals are capable of continued learning throughout their lives. We believe that each person is uniquely different and should be supported according to individual preferences and needs.
